Tribe Tephrellini View in CoL is characterized by shiny black body and black wings with distinct hyaline indentations or broad spots and often with shiny, light reflecting spots (argents). It is represented by 12 species in 6 genera in India, three in Metasphenisca Hendel View in CoL , one in Tephraciura Hering View in CoL , one in Aciura Robineau-Desvoidy View in CoL , four in Pristaciura Hendel View in CoL , two in Sphaeniscus Becker View in CoL and one in Tephrella Bezzi View in CoL (Agarwal & Sueyoshi; 2005; Hancock 2010; Maneesh & Prabhakar, 2025; this paper). Species of Tephrellini View in CoL are mostly associated with Acanthaceae View in CoL , Lamiaceae View in CoL and verbenaceae, with Barleria sp. ( Acanthaceae View in CoL ) a major host in India.
