Eupholidoptera smyrnensis ( Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1882)

Material examined. Turkey: Aydın Prov., Çine, Bölüntü-Dereli , 326 m, 37°33.053´N, 27°57.210´E, 14.7.2023, 1 male (in alcohol) ; Antalya Prov., Alanya, Kadıyakası Yaylası , 1237 m, 36°42.913´N, 32°18.123´E, 1.7.2019, 1 male (in alcohol) ; Antalya Prov., Alanya, Karadere , 1150 m, 36°36.575´N, 32°24.595´E, 30.6.2019, 1 male nymph ; Antalya Prov., GündoğmuŞ, 10 km Doğu, Çayırözü Köyü , 907 m, 36°48.286´N, 32°03.554´E, 2.7.2019, 3 males, 1 female (nymphs) (in alcohol) (all leg. M. Ünal ) ( AİBÜEM) .

Remarks. Salman (1990) listed an Eupholidoptera species as “ Eupholidoptera yalvaci (Salman, 1982) ” in the species list of Pholidopterini in Turkey in a paper that is listed in the References section as “ Salman, S., Atatürk Üniv. Fen. Fak. Der. Cilt 1. Özel Sayı 1: 164-168, 1982 ”. However, this paper could be found in libraries, among colleagues, or even in its publisher, Atatürk University, Erzurum. It appears that this paper has not been validly published according to the ICZN regulations (Articles 8, 9) and is a manuscript. Salman (1983) did not include this species in his revision of the genus Eupholidoptera . No subsequent authors have mentioned this taxon. In Salman’s curriculum vitae, the title of the paper is found (see below paragraph) and understood from the title, which describes E. yalvaci from the Marmara Region of Turkey. The only known species of Eupholidoptera in this area is E. smyrnensis .
