Revised description. Medium-sized, moderately slender fusiform shell; apical angle ~48°. Protoconch conical of 2.5 convex whorls, worn in all specimens. Teleoconch of up to six whorls. Suture deeply incised, linear. Early teleoconch whorls with moderately narrow, shallow subsutural ramp, rounded shoulder, subcylindrical periphery, constricted below. Axial sculpture of eight prominent, widely spaced, weakly frondose varices. On first and second whorl: prominent P1 and P2; on third whorl appearance of IP. On antepenultimate and penultimate whorls: spiral sculpture of delicate threads on subsutural ramp and very prominent P1 and P2 overrun by very weak adis, abis and tertiary threads: P1 and P2 forming short open spines on varices. Last whorl attaining ~60–65% of total height, with moderately steep, weakly convex subsutural ramp, convex periphery, strongly constricted below. Three frondose varices and three weaker intervarical ribs; varices forming short spines with primary cords. P1–P5 forming prominent, rounded cords separated by narrower interspaces; IP and P6 weak, adis, abis, s1–s3 weak, s4–s6 atrophied; on siphonal canal ADP prominent, MP weak. Fasciole moderately swollen, twisted, delimiting narrow pseudoumbilicus. Aperture wide, ovate. Outer lip thickened, with weak crenulations at edge (corresponding to ID, D1 to D5), smooth within. Anal canal wide, indistinct. Siphonal canal moderately long, narrow, open, bent to the left, slightly dorsally recurved. Columella deeply excavated, smooth, angled at transition to siphonal canal. Columellar callus forming narrow rim, erect at siphonal canal, adherent in parietal area.
Paratethyan synonyms. Murex (Muricidea) collega Boettger, 1906 is based on a juvenile specimen of Favartia czjzeki (Hoernes & Auinger, 1885) .
Discussion. Favartia czjzeki (Hoernes & Auinger, 1885) differs from Favartia absona ( De Cristofori & Jan, 1832) in its slenderer outline and the more prominent secondary cords. Specimens from the Hemmoorian (Middle Miocene) of the North Sea Basin, identified as Favartia collega ( Boettger, 1906) by Janssen (1984) and Stein et al. (2016) were described as Favartia jansseni by Merle, Pacaud, Ledon & Goret, 2024 and are excluded from synonymy of Favartia czjzeki (Hoernes & Auinger, 1885) .
Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic.
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Bałuk 1995); North Alpine-Carpathian Foreland Basin: Kalladorf ( Austria), Lysice ( Czech Republic) (Hoernes & Auinger 1885); Vienna Basin: Baden, Gainfarn, Niederleis, Steinebrunn ( Austria), Mikulov, Porzteich at Břeclav ( Czech Republic) (Hoernes & Auinger 1885); Pannonian Basin: Letkés ( Hungary) ( Kovács et al. 2018); Bakony Mountains: Bánd ( Hungary) ( Kovács 2020); Bükk Mountains: Borsodbóta ( Hungary) ( Csepreghy-Meznerics 1972); Făget Basin: CoŞteiu de Sus, Lăpugiu de Sus ( Romania) ( Kovács 2019); Dacian Basin: Târnene ( Bulgaria) (Kojumdgieva in Kojumdgieva & Strachimirov 1960).
