Type material. Holotype: Z. PAL. U.W. BkK-G602 (? lost), SL: 5.5 mm, MD: 3.5 mm, Korytnica ( Poland), illustrated in Bałuk 1995: pl. 27, fig. 10, figs. 45A 1 –A 2.
Description. See Bałuk (1995: 231). First teleoconch whorl: IP weak, P1 prominent, delimiting angled shoulder. Second teleoconch whorl: adis, IP weak; P1 prominent; P2 weaker than P1; adis, IP on the sutural ramp; P1–P6 on convex part of whorl, P1–P3 prominent; s1, P4–P6 weaker; ADP, MP, ABP on siphonal canal.
Discussion. Bałuk (1995: 231) mentioned two specimens, the holotype and a second unfigured smaller specimen that he considered conspecific. However, a careful examination suggests that there is no certainty that this second specimen and the holotype are conspecific. It is discussed here as Coralliophila sp. 2 . The holotype, unfortunately lost, might be subadult. It is extremely similar to the extant Coralliophila meyendorffii ( Calcara, 1845) , which originated during the Pliocene in the Mediterranean Sea. Coralliophila meyendorffii differs especially in the much larger size, with specimens up to 30 mm height (e.g., Brunetti 2004: fig. 2; Landau et al. 2007: pl. 15, fig. 5). Within the Paratethyan congeners, only Coralliophila hochstetteri (Hoernes & Auinger, 1885) is slightly reminiscent of Coralliophila serraticincta Bałuk, 1995 but differs in its more delicate spiral sculpture with prominent secondary cords and very prominent P4 and P6. Specimens from the Badenian of Mecsekpölöske ( Hungary) identified by Kovács (2020) as C. serraticincta differ in their conical spire with straight-sided subsutural ramp, angled shoulder and more delicate spiral sculpture. These specimens are tentatively placed herein in Coralliophila acuta sp. nov.
Paleoenvironment. Shallow marine, inner neritic.
Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Bałuk 1995).
