It is a taxon with yellow or nearly yellow stigmas, usually numerous outer phyllaries and a cone 0.7–0.8 mm long. It is distinct in its greyish green to glaucous-green colour, unstriped outer ligules, achenes densely, conspicuously squamulose, and narrowly winged petioles, and in the present key its characters lead it to the vicinity of T. compitale .
