Description. Adult. Burckhardt (1996).

Fifth instar immature ( Fig. 38A View FIGURE 38 ). Coloration. Pale yellow; antenna with dark brown apical segment.

Structure. Eye with one ocular pointed sectaseta dorsally. Antennal segments with following numbers of pointed sectasetae: 1(0), 2(1), 3(1), 4(2), 5(0–1), 6(2), 7(1), 8(1), 9(0), 10(0). Forewing pad with 11–13 pointed marginal sectasetae; hindwing pad with 2 marginal and 6 dorsal pointed sectasetae. Tarsal arolium broadly fan-shaped apically, 1.2 times as long as claws. Abdomen with five transverse rows of pointed sectasetae dorsally. Anterior margin of caudal plate ( Fig. 36I View FIGURE 36 ) distant from anterior margin of extra pore fields; with two rows of pointed sectasetae in the middle and along anterior margin dorsally, and four or five pointed sectasetae near circumanal ring on either side dorsally. Extra pore fields forming continuous outer and inner bands, consisting of small oval and round patches; outer band short medially, end pointing outwards. Each half of circumanal ring distinctly bent forwards antero-ventrally.

Host plants. Luehea candicans Mart. , L. divaricata Mart. , L. microcarpa R.E. Fr. and L. paniculata Mart. ( Malvaceae ).

Distribution. Reported from Brazil (PR) ( Burckhardt & Ouvrard 2012, as Diclidophlebia crassiflagellata ); Paraguay ( Burckhardt 1996, as Paurocephala crassiflagellata ). Brazil (MG, MS, PR, RS).

Comments. Klyveria crassiflagellata differs from K. flaviae sp. nov. and K. setinervis (Burckhardt) in the larger body size (FL> 1.8 versus <1.8), the very narrow pterostigma of the forewing (PtL/PtW> 14.0 versus 9.0), and in the paramere, in both lateral and dorsal views, with a broad apex bearing two small sclerotised teeth (versus narrow apex lacking distinct sclerotised teeth). It differs from K. flaviae sp. nov. as detailed under the latter species, and from K. setinervis in the following characters: the shorter setae on head, thorax and forewing veins; the relatively shorter vertex (VW/VL <3.0 versus> 3.0); the narrower cell cu 1 of forewing (Cu 1a L/cu 1 W> 3.0 versus <2.0); the oval circumanal ring on the female proctiger (versus cruciform).
