Gastrinodes Warren View in CoL (Figs 501–513)
Gastrinodes View in CoL is confined to southern Australia and consists of two endemic described species and at least one undescribed species. Gastrinodes View in CoL eggs are narrow to very narrow and elongated and bluntly ovoid. The chorion is soft and smooth and overlain by a dense meshlike reticulation. The egg surface is marked all over by quadrate to elongated hexagonal cells with moderately broad, rounded and elevated walls. The cells are arranged regularly in longitudinal rows. Aeropyles are elevated and domed with moderately large openings and present on all egg surfaces. In Gastrinodes sp. the anterior pole cells are defined by multiple aeropyles as in the archiearine Acalyphes sp. , the nacophorines, Chlenias View in CoL ‘ banksiaria’ and C. seminigra View in CoL , and in the Nearctic species Caripeta divisata Walker View in CoL ( Ourapterygini : Ennominae View in CoL ) and Xanthorhoe packardata View in CoL ( Xanthorhoini : Larentiinae View in CoL ) ( Salkeld 1983). The rosette cells are recessed. The eggs of bitaeniaria View in CoL were also illustrated by McFarland (1972) with both low magnification photographs and SEM micrographs.
