3.1 | Head form differences between C. arnoldi View in CoL and C. asper
The ANOVA detected a significant dependence of logCS on logSVL (R 2 =.778, F 1,198 = 1533.6, p <.01), but also significant head size differences between sexes (R 2 =.102, F 1,198 = 201.2, p <.01), and between species (R 2 =.018, F 1,198 = 36.5, p <.01). In general, the Pyrenean brook newt has a bigger head than the Montseny brook newt, and in both species, males have bigger heads than females ( C. asper : X̅males = 3.53 SD males = 0.10, X̅females = 3.43 SD females = 0.12; C. arnoldi : X̅males = 3.44 SD males = 0.04, X̅ females = 3.38 SD females = 0.03; Figure S2).
