Life form:—Subshrub.

Habitat:—This species occurs in the Subtropical Highland Grasslands, Cloud Forest and less frequently High Altitude Tropical Grasslands, growing in dry sand soils, sandstone outcrops, and between granitic rocky outcrops, at an elevation of 836–1800 m a.s.l.

Preliminary conservation status:—Endangered (EN – B1ab[i,ii,iii]+B2ab[i,ii,iii]). EOO = 3,875.046 km 2 and AOO = 32 km 2.

Conservation unit:— Campos Gerais National Park , Pico do Marumbi State Park, and Pico Paraná State Park .
