Habitat:—This species occurs in the Cerrado and Subtropical Highlands Grasslands, growing on sandstone outcrops and basaltic rocky outcrops, at an elevation of 550–1035 m a.s.l.

Geographic distribution:—Campo Mourão: E.D. Lozano et al. 1855 (MBM!). Candói: M.E. Engels & E.D. Lozano 2174 (MBM!). Ponta Grossa: O.S. Ribas et al. 8523 (MBM!). Tibagi: R.R. Völtz & M.L. Brotto 1898 (MBM!). Turvo: M.G. Caxambú 2847 (HCF).

Preliminary conservation status:—Endangered (EN – B2ab[i,ii,iii]). EOO = 21,336.57 km 2 and AOO = 32 km 2.

Conservation unit:—Campos Gerais National Park and Vila Velha State Park.
