Life form:—Herb.
Habitat:— Dyckia fosteriana var. fosteriana L.B.Sm. occurs in the Subtropical Highland Grasslands, growing on the sandstone outcrops at an elevation of 1000–1177 m a.s.l. In turn, Dyckia fosteriana var. robustior L.B.Sm. occurs on the granitic rocky outcrops, above 1600 m a.s.l.
Geographic distribution:—Balsa Nova: F. Santos-Silva 165 (UPCB!). Campina Grande do Sul: G. Hatschbach 17310 (MBM!). Campo Largo: F.S. Meyer et al. 2612 (UPCB!). Sengés: G. Hatschbach 27198 (MBM!).

Preliminary conservation status:—Endangered (EN – B1ab[i,ii,iii]+B2ab[i,ii,iii]). EOO = 4,612.543 km 2 and AOO = 12 km 2.
