Life form:—Subshrub.

Habitat:—This species occurs in the Cloud Forest and High Altitude Tropical Grasslands, growing in Ibitiraquire mountain range and Baitaca mountain range on granitic rocky outcrops. The elevation records range from 1300 to 1721 m a.s.l.

Geographic distribution:—Antonina: F. Silveira 1 (UPCB!). Campina Grande do Sul: E. Barboza et al. 2622 (MBM!). Quatro Barras: C.V. Roderjan 663B (MBM!).

Number of gatherings:—14. Most recent record:—2013.

Preliminary conservation status:—Critically endangered (CR – B2ab[i,ii]). EOO = 1,294 km 2 and AOO = 12 km 2.

Conservation unit:—Pico Paraná State Park.
