Life form:—Shrub.
Habitat:—This species occurs in the Cloud Forest, High Altitude Tropical Grasslands and Subtropical Highland Grasslands, growing on granitic rocky outcrops, sandstone outcrops, sand soil and wet grasslands. The elevation records range from 822 to 1574 m a.s.l.
Geographic distribution:— Campina Grande do Sul: N.L. Souza et al. 61 (FUEL!). Cerro Azul: G. Hatschbach 8303 (MBM!). Ponta Grossa: J.M. Silva 6064 (MBM!). São Mateus do Sul: O.S. Ribas et al. 6606 (FUEL!).

Preliminary conservation status:—Endangered (EN – B1ab[i,ii]+B2ab[i,ii]). EOO = 4,640.82 km 2 and AOO = 16 km 2.
Conservation unit:— Campos Gerais National Park and Pico Paraná State Park .
