15. Oncocnemidinae were considered as a distinct subfamily by Fibiger & Lafontaine, (2005). In male genitalia, the lengthy vesica with an extended field of spines on the apical half of the vesica is a distinctive feature of the subfamily. In contrast to the Cuculliinae , the spinneret is long and tubular, and the apical seta on the labial palpus is typically lengthy ( Fibiger & Lafontaine 2005).
