Remarks: The high genetic distance between populations keyed out to P. squamosa squamosa and P. s. paucipora, respectively, estimated at 15.5% p-distance, indicate a species status of these populations. Further research is needed to clarify taxonomic status of the Balkan lineages and relationship with other members of the P. squamosa complex.
