Remarks: Recently, Pešić et al. (2023a) molecularly studied the specimens from the hyporheic interstitial of the upper Neretva River basin in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and revealed the presence of two genetically different clusters, with the genetic distance estimated at 9.78% p -distance, indicating the presence of undescribed cryptic species within H. subterraneus - complex.
