Speloeophorus elevatus Rathbun, 1898 View in CoL
( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 )
Speloeophorus elevatus Rathbun, 1898: 290 View in CoL , pl. 3 fig. 1.
Material examined. 1 female (CW 8.87 × CL 8.13 mm), station PA05, 06.viii.2019 ( CCDB 7458 View Materials ) .
Geographic distribution. Western Atlantic— USA (Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Brazil (Maranhão, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo) ( Rathbun 1937; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Powers 1977; Coelho & Ramos-Porto 1986; Barreto et al. 1993; Melo 1996; Melo & Torres 1998; Melo & Veloso 2005; Coelho Filho 2006; Almeida & Coelho 2008; Diez García 2014).
Remarks. This is the first record of Speloeophorus elevatus from Espírito Santo state and the southernmost documented record from the Western Atlantic. The values of the BLAST query cover (88%) and percent identity (>92%) were suitable for this identification within Leucosiidae Samouelle 1819 , since our sequence aligned with other representatives of the same family ( Magalhães et al. 2016). This sequence is the first of the genus to be deposited in the GenBank database. Sequence accession number (GenBank): CCDB 7458—16S (OR501065) (present study).
