Subfamily Mutillinae Latreille, 1802
This is the largest mutillid subfamily in the Old World ( Pagliano et al. 2020). Four tribes were recognized in this subfamily by Brothers & Lelej (2017): Ctenotillini Brothers & Lelej, 2017 , Mutillini Latreille, 1802 (subdivided into Ephutina and Mutillina), Smicromyrmini Bischoff, 1920 , and Trogaspidiini Bischoff, 1920 . Waldren et al. (2023) further added three tribes, Psammothermini Waldren, 2023 (separated from Smicromyrmini sensu Brothers & Lelej, 2017), Pristomutillini Waldren, 2023, and Zeugomutillini Waldren, 2023 (separated from Ctenotillini sensu Brothers & Lelej, 2017). One genus of Ctenotillini , two genera of Mutillini , 10 genera of Smicromyrmini , 14 genera of Trogaspidiini , and one genus of Zeugomutillini have been recorded from the eastern Oriental Region (Lelej 2005, 2023; Pagliano et al. 2020; Okayasu 2021a; Lelej et al. 2023).
