Identification source. Compared with voucher specimens from China ( Chen 1957) [ TARI].

Previous record. This species was recorded from northern Vietnam by Lelej (2005) without reference to voucher specimens. Later, Boutin & Vilhelmsen (2024) examined a female from northern Vietnam, but additional locality data were unavailable.

Distribution. China. Vietnam: Cao Bang *, Vinh Phuc *, Hoa Binh *, Ninh Binh *.

Occurrence in Vietnam. April to August, October. South China-Vietnam subtropical evergreen forests and Northern Indochina subtropical forests ecoregions. 300–1230 m alt. Forest.

Sex association. This species was described from both sexes, but the evidence of this association was not indicated.

Remarks. This species can be recognized by the black head, which is seen in both males and females.Although the other two Vietnamese species are currently known from females only, we expect their males to have a reddish head, like the females.
