Identification source. Keyed using Mickel (1933c) and Chen (1957) and compared with the original description.

Previous record. This species was recorded from northern Vietnam by Lelej (2005) without reference to voucher specimens. Later, Okayasu et al. (2018) recorded this species from Lam Dong.

Distribution. China. Laos. Thailand. Vietnam: Cao Bang *, Lao Cai *, Vinh Phuc *, Quang Ninh *, Lam Dong.

Occurrence in Vietnam. March to June, September, November. South China-Vietnam subtropical evergreen forests and Northern Indochina subtropical forests ecoregions. 450–930 m alt.

Sex association. Male unknown.

Remarks. This appears to be the most common Odontomutilla species in Thailand and China, particularly around Hong Kong , based on citizen-science records online (KAW pers. obs.). Comparatively few specimens have been examined from Vietnam.

Genus Yamanetilla Lelej, 1996

Diversity and distribution. This genus includes eight species. The type species occurs in the Palaearctic part of Japan, but other species are Oriental in distribution ( Lelej 1996c, 2002, 2005; Pagliano et al. 2020) except for Y. yamanei Lelej, 2024 known from the Wallacea transition zone ( Lelej 2024).

Remarks. This genus was nested in the widespread and speciose Odontomutilla in phylogenetic analyses by Brothers & Lelej (2017) and Waldren et al. (2023).
