Type: — BRAZIL. Santa Catarina, Martius s.n. ( holotype M?, not located).
Distribution and ecology: — Endemic to central and southeastern Brazil ( Distrito Federal , Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina). Grows in semihumid forests and along forest margins in the cerrado region, at ca. 1100–1300 m.
