Scaphander ceylanicus Smith, 1904

Remarks: This species was described based on an empty shell collected by the Investigator off the coast of Sri Lanka. Annandale and Stewart (1909) illustrated the shell collected by the Investigator and, based on the interpretation of this illustration ( Fig. 38C ), we presume that it might represent the same species discussed above, namely S. bushirensis ( Melvill & Standen, 1901) . Nevertheless, until new material is available for study and comparison this remains speculative, and both species names are thus here kept as valid.
