Remarks: Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus is distributed across coastal rivers from Senegal to Angola. During the study, it was a common catch in the Badagry and Ikorodu regions of NLL. This species is characterized by its large mouth, prominent eyes, and four pairs of small barbels. It also features a deeply forked caudal fin, two dorsal spines, and six dorsal soft rays, making it easily identifiable within its range. Other synonyms for this species include Arius acutivelis (Valenciennes) , Chrysichthys acutirostris (Günther) , Chrysichthys buettikoferi (Steindachner) , Chrysichthys büttikoferi (Steindachner) , Chrysichthys ogowensis (Günther) , and Pimelodus nigrodigitatus (Lacépède) .
