Natural History: Larvae have been found under bark or eastern hemlock ( Tsuga canadensis ) in WV ( Bøving & Champlain 1920). Knull (1951) reported adults occurring in shortleaf pine ( Pinus echinata ) with southern pine beetle ( Dendroctonus frontalis Zimmermann ) infestations. Mawdsley (1999) reported that Knull (1951) also recorded it from Populus , but this was erroneous. Dorshorst & Young (2008) reported that collections in Wisconsin were primarily from Lindgren funnel traps placed in jack pine ( Pinus banksiana ), oak ( Quercus ) woodlands and red pine ( Pinus resinosa ) plantations.
