Distribution: FL and TX south to Panama.
- Reported from: FL, TX, Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama ( Leavengood & Garner 2014; Hernandez-May et al. 2021).
- New State Record: FLORIDA: Highlands County: Lake Placid , Baccharis halimifolia lvs, 68-22383, 23-IV-1968, G. Diatloff ( JMLC; 1) .
Natural History: Almost nothing known. The Florida record above was collected from Baccharis halimifolia leaves.
Comments: Phyllobaenus chapini (Wolcott) was designated as a junior synonym of P. lateralis ( Leavengood &
Garner 2014). The erroneous misassociation of this species with the genus Isohyndocera is addressed in Leavengood
(2024).
