Distribution: Native to India, this species has a spotty distribution in North America , being known from FL, LA, NY and CA (primarily from port interceptions). It also occurs in the Caribbean, South America , Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Natural History: Corporaal (1939) reported it as a predator in the following situations: (1) coffee infested with the coffee bean weevil ( Araecerus fasciculatus DeGeer ; Anthribidae ), (2) drugs, spices and tobacco infested with the coffee bean weevil and the tobacco beetle ( Lasioderma serricorne F.; Ptinidae ), (3) rice infested with the rice weevil ( Calandra oryzae L.; Curculionidae ) and the red flower beetle Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) , and (4) in tea from China (infestation not noted).
