Lectotype (Semple in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 367. 1998): [icon] "Virga aurea latissimo folio Canadensis glabra" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 235, f. 4. 1692; Almag. Bot.: 389. 1696. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 98: 153 ( BM-SL) .

Current name: Solidago flexicaulis L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Gray (in Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts 17: 178. 1882) discussed the identity of 998.7 (LINN) "which appears to be the original of the species", and other elements, but did not designate a type.
