Holotype: ɗ, China: Mt. Fanjing (27°55'N, 108°41'E), Guizhou Province, 1700 m, 1.vi.2002, coll. Xinpu Wang, genitalia slide No. FXM07046. Paratypes: 1 ɗ, 1 Ψ, same data as for holotype.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to Issikiopteryx japonica, but can be separated from it by the following characters: the uncus lobe trapezoidal, the dorso-apical process of the cucullus pointed and curved distally, and the aedeagus with about 15 short spine-shaped cornuti in the male genitalia; the caudal processes of the male eighth sternite short and triangular; and the lamella antevaginalis inconspicuous in the female genitalia. In I. japonica, the uncus lobe is triangular, the dorso-apical process of the cucullus is rounded, the aedeagus has about 10 short spine-like cornuti, and the caudal processes of the male eighth sternite are slender and pointed; the female lamella antevaginalis is developed and broad.

Description. Adult (Fig. 1 a): Wing expanse 14.0–15.0 mm. Head with vertex pale yellow, frons shiny whitish yellow. Labial palpus yellow, paler on inner surface. Antenna yellow. Thorax yellow. Tegula dark gray. Forewing with termen slightly arched; ground color ochreous yellow, with black spot at base, with large, kidney-shaped silvery gray blotch at 1/3 surrounded by dark brown scales; distal 1/3 with some longitudinal grayish brown streaks, somewhat forming a blotch; cilia gray. Hindwing and cilia pale yellow, somewhat grayish. Legs yellow, with black speckles on mid and hind tarsi. Abdomen yellow.

Male genitalia (Figs. 2 a): Uncus lobe more or less trapezoidal, slightly concave on posterior margin. Gnathos long, greatly hooked distally. Valva broad basally, greatly narrowed distally, armed with numerous short spines and teeth from about middle to 3/4 ventrally, with one large spine beyond ventral 2/3; cucullus produced into long digitate process, hooked downward and hairy distally; costal bar curved medially. Sacculus narrow. Juxta expanded latero-medially, gently concave on posterior margin, forming two short pointed caudal processes. Aedeagus nearly parallel-sided except broad basally; apex bilobed: dorsal lobe large, rounded at apex, ventral lobe a curved slender spine, exceeding end of dorsal lobe; cornuti composed of one large hooked distal spine and about fifteen short spines scattered throughout median portion.

Eighth sternite (Fig. 2 b): Caudal processes short triangular, sclerotized apically.

Female genitalia (Fig. 2 c): Papillae anales short and broad. Apophyses posteriores about three times length of apophyses anteriores. Lamella antevaginalis indistinct. Antrum large, broadly funnelled, anterior margin about half width of posterior margin. Ductus bursae with posterior 2/3 heavily sclerotized, bearing numerous short spines and teeth patched medially; anterior 1/3 narrower, membranous. Corpus bursae oval, spinulate inside; signum a narrow dentate plate, protruding dorso-medially.

Distribution. China (Guizhou).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix valv - and the Latin word spinatus, in reference to the valva with a spine beyond ventral two-thirds.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03C57978FFC5FFA8C48D7785A71FFE5D	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
