The species name is derived from the freshwater sacred groove (Kannhalachi Devrai). It is the only Myristica swamp in Maharashtra, located in the Bambarde village, Dodamarg taluka, Sindhudurg District. The specific epithet is derived from the combination of two words ‘Kannha’ and ‘Rai’.</p><p>Proposed English name. Tilari Cruiser</p><p>Proposed Marathi name.
