03D18794B166E259FF23873DFB1A863A.taxon	description	That the syenitica type belongs to the lugens complex and not to leucura is indicated by its relatively more pointed wing shape with p 3 (primary number 3, counted ascendently) the longest primary (not pp 3 – 4 or pp 3 – 5 as in leucura), by its long p 2 (p 2 = ~ p 6, instead of p 2 = p 6 / 7 or p 7 as in leucura), by its relatively short first primary (p 1> primary-coverts c. 2.5 mm; in contrast both races of leucura have p 1> 4 – 11 mm, usually 7 mm or longer), and by lack of a clear emargination on p 6 (usually well-developed in leucura). Also like taxa in the lugens complex (but unlike leucura), the type of syenitica has both white fringes to the inner webs of the remiges and some retained whitish tips to the juvenile primary-coverts. Furthermore, its main measurements, wing (90.5 mm), tail (59.0 mm) and bill (17.0 mm), are too small for leucura, and better fit O. lugens sensu lato.	en	Shirihai, Hadoram, Schweizer, Manuel, Kirwan, Guy M., Svensson, Lars (2014): Saxicola syenitica Heuglin, 1869 (Aves: Passeriformes: Muscicapidae), an overlooked taxon of Oenanthe? 03D18794B166E259FF238455FBD387E1.taxon	description	The syenitica type has shorter, more rounded wings and a shorter primary projection than warriae, and in these characters is closer to opistholeuca than warriae. For example, some O. picata sensu lato can have p 2 = 6, and p 1 can be 3 mm> primary-coverts, while c. 50 % have no or only very insignificant emargination on p 6 (thus being very close to the syenitica type). Nevertheless, the type of syenitica is readily separated from opistholeuca by its well-defined white fringes to the inner webs of the remiges, as in Middle Eastern and North African taxa of the lugens complex. Moreover, the identity of the syenitica type with lugens has been confirmed by DNA analysis, thereby comprehensively rejecting the idea that it might be related to O. picata.	en	Shirihai, Hadoram, Schweizer, Manuel, Kirwan, Guy M., Svensson, Lars (2014): Saxicola syenitica Heuglin, 1869 (Aves: Passeriformes: Muscicapidae), an overlooked taxon of Oenanthe?
