(Alnetoidia) flava sp. nov. Oh &amp; Jung</p> <p>(Figs. 1A–I)</p> <p>Description. Body coloration light yellow (Fig. 1A). Crown dark yellow, pronotum and mesonotum, scutellum yellow with irregular translucence pattern. Frontoclypeus and anteclypeus dark yellow. Thorax and abdomen yellow, legs same color (Fig. 1B). Coxa, femur and tarsus, bright yellow, tibia yellow. Fore leg tibia with a few short setae at internal margin and middle leg tibia without setae. Hind leg tibia with several long and thick setae at external margin and internal margin with long and thin setae more dense than external margin. Forewings yellow and well developed.</p> <p>Male abdominal apodemes extended to sternite IV (Fig. 1C).</p> <p>Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe with ventral process and dorsal appendage. Ventral process lanceolate with three microsetae at middle margin; dorsal appendage with blunted end (Fig. 1F). Dorsal margin of pygofer lobe rough. Subgenital plate with three macrosetae at middle margin and several microsetae around outer surface (Fig. 1I). Style with wide preapical lobe and apex foot-like shape (Fig. 1G). Connective with winding arms and dented apex (Fig. 1H). Aedeagus stem short with a pair of short process below apex; apex of process with teeth in caudal view (Fig. 1D). Aedeagus curved square bracket-like shape and process of aedeagus short and blunted in lateral view (Fig. 1E).</p> <p>Measurements. Males: 3.15–3.21 mm, females: 3.32–3.47 mm.</p> <p>Specimens examined. Holotype: [CNU] ♂, Gyesan-ri, Gadeok-myeon, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungchun- gbuk-do, Korea, 11. ix. 2014, coll. S. Oh, on Betula platyphylla; Paratypes: [CNU] ♂, 6♀♀, Saekdal-dong, Seogwiposi, Jeju-do, Korea, 3. ix. 2015, coll. S. Oh, on Acer pictum subsp. mono; [NIBR] ♀, same data as paratype.</p> <p>Host plants. Acer pictum subsp. mono (Sapindales: Sapindaceae)*</p> <p>Distributions. Korea *</p> <p>Remarks. This new species is similar to A. satsumana (Matsumura, 1932), but differs as follows: 1) male abdominal apodemes extended to end of sternite IV 2) appendage of pygofer with blunted apex; 3) connective with dented apex; 4) aedeagus stem short and processes not reaching apex.</p> <p>Etymology. The specific name refers to the characteristics of coloration of the species. Body coloration yellow (Fig. 2A). Crown light yellow with a pair of faint spots medially. Pronotum light yellow with irregular translucence pattern. Mesonotum and scutellum dark yellow. Frontoclypeus comparatively short, anteclypeus dark yellow. Thorax dark yellow and abdomen yellow (Fig. 2B). Coxa, femur and tarsus yellowish white, tibia yellow with white basally. Fore leg tibia with several short setae densely at internal margin and middle leg tibia without setae. Hind leg tibia with several long setae widely at external margin and short setae densely at internal margin. Forewings yellow without spot or pattern.</p> <p>Male abdominal apodemes long and narrow, extended to half of sternite V (Fig. 2C).</p> <p>Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe flat with ventral process and dorsal appendage. Ventral process of pygofer lobe stretched straight with three microsetae at middle under margin. Dorsal appendage of pygofer lobe beak-like shape (Fig. 2F). Subgenital plate with three macrosetae at middle part of outer surface and several microsetae at around edge (Fig. 2I). Style long with preapical lobe and apex foot-like (Fig. 2G). Connective with short and blunt ended arms, middle appendage thin and short (Fig. 2H). Aedeagus with long stem and a pair of subapical processes at apex; apex obviously bended. Aedeagal process long and reaching at apex in caudal view (Fig. 2D). Aedeagus curved arrow-like with short hook at below apex in lateral view (Fig. 2E).</p> <p>Measurements. Males 3.12–3.28 mm.</p> <p>Specimens examined. [CNU] 2♂♂, Mt. Duta recreation forest, 132, Achagol-gil, Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchanggun, Gangwon-do, Korea, 30. v. 2015, coll. S. Oh, on Morus alba</p> <p>Host plants. Unknown.</p> <p>Distributions. Japan, Korea *, Russia</p> <p>Remarks. This species was described without male genitalia illustrations in 1932 by Matsumura, after which figures of the male genitalia were provided by Vilbaste (1968) and Anufriev (1969). However, genital illustrations provided by these two authors differ from each other (see pp. 99–100 in Vilbaste, 1968; pp. 177–178 in Anufriev, 1969), which caused difficulties in identifying this species. We identified the examined specimens following Vilbaste (1968) who provided more detailed genital illustrations, rather than Anufriev (1969).
