Originally described in Coenosia as a subspecies of C. heterocnemis Emden, 1940 and based on one male from Nyamgasani. In addition to the morphological characters mentioned by Emden (1940), the sternite 5, the length of the hypandrium and the shape of the aedeagus are very different from C. heterocnemis (see Figs 83 – 85), which led us to revise the status of this subspecies. The holotype was dissected and illustrated.	en	Couri, Márcia, Pont, Adrian (2016): Species of Coenosia Meigen (Diptera, Muscidae) described by Fritz van Emden from the British Museum Ruwenzori Expedition of 1934 – 1935. Included in the niveifrons group, and easily recognised by the colour of the head and scutum. As stated in Emden (1940), the species was previously identified as C. praeacuta Stein, 1913, and the holotype has a second species name label bearing an unpublished manuscript name. Apparently Emden changed his mind and decided to give the species another name. We have added a new label, C. chaetomeros, to the holotype. Couplet 2 (1) of Emden’s (1940) key to species mentions that both C. cubitalis and C. hippelates (Emden, 1940) have the base of veins R 4 + 5 and M thickened and darkened, but in C. cubitalis this is much stronger. Also, to differentiate the males of both species, C. hippelates has a very long and curved ventral spur on hind tibia (Emden 1940: Fig. 72). 03DB87F3FFE0FFECFF39E3D50815F8F6.taxon	description	Male terminalia. Cercal plate and surstylus as in Fig. 105. Aedeagal complex as in Fig. 106. Notes. Included in the rebmanni group. Emden (1940) stated that there are probably only two valid species in this “ group ” — C. translucida (Emden, 1940) and C. rebmanni – and that the other species are probably subspecies of C. rebmanni. Pont (1980) considered this species as a subspecies of C. rebmanni. We dissected a male paratype of C. kilembana and a male of C. rebmanni and the terminalia are exactly the same. On the other hand, other species of this group that we dissected (C. ciliventris and C. translucida) have very characteristic terminalia. We are proposing the new synonymy of C. kilembana with C. rebmanni, syn. nov.	en	Couri, Márcia, Pont, Adrian (2016): Species of Coenosia Meigen (Diptera, Muscidae) described by Fritz van Emden from the British Museum Ruwenzori Expedition of 1934 – 1935.
