03F487A3B074FF90B8D3FD92B76765F0.taxon	diagnosis	Differential diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge, T. angulata sp. nov. is a unique species among the Palaearctic Pipunculidae, due to its distinctly apically-knobbed and laterally-bent surstyli in the male, and due to the weakly undulating ovipositor that bears a distinct ventral protuberance in the female (Figs 3 – 8). For further remarks, see under T. pistacia sp. nov.	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél. 03F487A3B076FF92B8D3FD0CB0D5603D.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species was originally described from Egypt and hitherto only recorded from Alborz province (Kehlmaier & Majnon-Jahromi 2015). The females were associated to males via DNA barcodes. Females of T. demeyeri can be separated from other species by the following characters: flagellum dark brown with yellowish apex; wing length 2.1 – 2.2 mm; third costal section half the length of fourth costal section; cross-vein r-m reaching cell dm in its middle; leg dark brown except for the yellow femoral-tibial joint and basal tarsal segments of tawny brown coloration; fore femur with 1 – 2 basal spines ventrally and mid femur with 0 – 1; tergite 9 dark yellow, weakly curved, in lateral view, and in dorsal view with conspicuous lateral flanges (Fig. 12). Similar flanges to those of T. demeyeri have been illustrated for T. flexa Kuznetzov and T. sigillata Kuznetzov, both described from female singletons collected in Mongolia (Kuznetzov 1994).	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél. 03F487A3B079FF9DB8D3F802B6E46673.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Females of these two species cannot be separated morphologically. Furthermore, the species pair T. glabrum and T. subvirescens has highly similar COI sequences, making an identification via DNA barcoding unreliable (Kehlmaier & Majnon-Jahromi 2015). Nevertheless, we assume that the present specimens most probably belong to T. glabrum, as only males of this species were collected (see under T. glabrum).	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél. 03F487A3B078FF9FB8D3FF39B77063D6.taxon	description	Description. MALE. Body length 3.1 mm; wing length 3.5 mm; eyes meeting for a distance slightly longer than the length of ocellar triangle, i. e., for approximately six ommatidia; pedicellus with two minute bristles dorsally and one ventrally; flagellum pointed, dark brown; thorax dark brown except for the yellow postpronotal lobe; dorsal bristles of thorax hardly discernible, black; wing membrane with a very faint brownish tinge; wing membrane covered in microtrichia except for the base, including the anal lobe basally; third costal segment 1 / 3 the length of fourth costal segment; crossvein r-m reaching cell dm very shortly after the middle; crossvein bm-cu interrupted right before reaching cell br on both wings; halter with dark base, whitish stem and light brown knob; leg dark brown except for the narrowly yellow apex of femora, basal 1 / 3 and apex of tibia and tarsal segments except distitarsus; hind trochanter ventrally smooth, without spines or projection; fore femora with posteroventral row of minute black spines in apical half; mid femora with antero- and posteroventral row of minute black spines for more than apical half; hind femora with anteroventral row of minute black spines in apical half; pulvilli as long as distitarsus; abdomen dark brown; tergite 1 with a lateral patch of about ten short black setae on each side, slightly shorter than the width of tarsal segments; dorsal setae of abdomen black, hardly discernible; sclerites dark brown, apparently evenly sclerotised; genitalia, in dorsal view, with short epandrium, broader than long, with a narrow longitudinal stripe of distinctly weaker sclerotisation centrally and, therefore, apparently divided at first sight; surstyli almost symmetrical, gradually tapering towards apices, which are slightly knobbed; left surstylus slightly protruding the right one; membrane of syntergosternite 8 large, almost reaching epandrium, caudally occupying half of syntergosternite 8; in lateral view, apical half of surstyli bent towards venter by almost 90 ° (see inner margin); phallus trifid, largely retracted and thus hard to discern even under at a very high magnification; all ejaculatory ducts of different length (although this difference in length might be due to the fact that some ducts were partly torn off), the longest one upright, wavy and with a small membranous nose towards apex. FEMALE. Unknown.	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél. 03F487A3B078FF9FB8D3FF39B77063D6.taxon	diagnosis	Differential diagnosis. Tomosvaryella pistacia sp. nov. stands morphologically similar to T. angulata sp. nov., but the male of the first one does not have such a strongly-curved and distally-knobbed surstyli. Although the membranous area of the syntergosternite 8 is clearly larger in T. pistacia sp. nov., to separate the syntergosternite 8 from the abdomen is crucial in order to differentiate the two species with certainty. Both species share a small epandrium that seems to be less sclerotised dorsally, at its narrowest point (before the anal opening); this feature is apparently more developed in T. pistacia sp. nov., judging from the holotype. The small-sized epandrium puts these two species in a close relation to the Afrotropical T. congoana Hardy, known from the Comores Archipelago, South Africa, Zaïre and Zambia (redescribed and illustrated by De Meyer 1993). Tomosvaryella congoana also shares a similarly-shaped phallus and female ovipositor; the female ovipositor, however, has two protuberances at its ventral base, instead of one protuberance, as in T. angulata sp. nov.	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél. 03F487A3B07BFF9FB8D3F914B3BD64DD.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species was described on the basis of the male holotype from Kazakhstan and is phylogenetically and morphologically closely related to T. gazliensis Kuznetzov, which was previously recorded from Alborz province by Kehlmaier & Majnon-Jahromi (2015). Both species share an almost identical DNA barcode (compare to LK 391742), differing by a single nucleotide position. Kuznetzov (1994) illustrated the male genitalia of both species only in lateral view. Despite certain haziness, the presented microphotographs of the epandrium and surstyli of T. urdaensis and T. gazliensis provide better evidence than line drawings for showing the subtle differences separating these two species: T. urdaensis has the basis of surstyli slightly broader and more angulate than T. gazliensis; the surstyli of T. urdaensis have the outer lateral margins slightly more concave than T. gazliensis, and the apices more pointed (Figs 19 – 20). However, the status of these species must be regarded as uncertain until larger series of specimens are available for study. We assume that the recorded female represents T. urdaensis as it was collected together with a male and shares its DNA barcode. The female of T. urdaensis is characterised as follows: flagellum tawny brown with yellowish apex; wing length 2.2 mm; third costal section half the length of fourth costal section; cross-vein r-m reaching cell dm in its middle; leg dark brown except for the yellow apex of femur, basal 1 / 4 and apex of tibia and tarsal segments (except distitarus); tergite 9 dark yellow, long and straight (Figs 11, 14).	en	Majnon-Jahromi, Bahareh, Gheibi, Mehdi, Fallahzadeh, Majid, Kehlmaier, Christian, Hesami, Shahram (2017): Pipunculidae (Diptera) from southern Iran, including two new species of the genus Tomosvaryella Aczél.
