Khalid sp. nov.</p> <p>Figure 2: A–D; Figure 3: A–E; Figure 5: A</p> <p>MycoBank no.:—MB 820543</p> <p>Etymology:—the specific epithet refers to the type locality, Dir Upper district.</p> <p>Diagnosis:—differing from Melanoleuca cinereifolia (Bon) Bon in having white lamellae, small ellipsoid basidiospores, similar cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia without crystals, and a cutis type pileipellis.</p> <p>Holotype:— PAKISTAN. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province: Dir Upper district, Kumrat Valley, 2401 m asl, growing on rich loamy soil near Panjkora river, 2 September 2015, Abdul Nasir Khalid and Farzana Nawaz FS 107 (LAH35159!; GenBank KU575243).</p> <p>Description:—Basidiomata tricholomatoid, medium. Pileus 42–57 mm diam., convex, obtusely umbonate, margin straight, smooth, glabrous, dry; occasionally cracked, light pink (5P9/4) to yellowish (5Y8/4) becoming grey (7.5Y6/2) to greenish (7.5Y6/4) or dark grey (7.5Y3/2). Lamellae free, crowded, toothed, yellowish (7.5Y9/2) to greenish grey (10Y6/2), with lamellulae of 3 lengths. Stipe 45–67 × 10 mm, eccentric, subequal, subbulbous, surface dry, pruinose, yellowish brown (2.5Y6/4) fibrillose context, becoming white towards base, hollow. Basal mycelium white (7.5Y9/2), abundant.</p> <p>Basidiospores [40/2/1], (5.4‒) 6‒9.4 (‒10.8) × (3.6‒) 4‒6.8 (‒7.8) μm, [avl × avw = 7.9 × 6 µm, Q = 1.31], ellipsoid, warty, thin-walled, hyaline in 5% KOH, amyloid warts, apiculus present. Basidia 12.7‒32.3 × 6.1‒11.4 μm, [avl × avw = 24.55 × 8.87 μm], clavate, 2‒4 spored, thin-walled, hyaline; sterigmata up to 5.7 μm long. Cheilocystidia 42.9–84 × 8.9–19.7 μm, [avl × avw = 65 × 13.4 µm], fusoid-ventricose, leptocystidia. Pleurocystidia similar to cheilocystidia. Pileipellis a cutis of cylindrical hyphae 6.8–16.8 μm in diameter (av= 11 µm), thin-walled, septate, branched, hyaline. Stipitipellis composed of cylindrical hyphae 4.7–17.2 μm in diam. (av = 11.2 µm), hyaline, septate, branched. Clamp connections absent.</p> <p>Habitat:—Moist temperate coniferous forests.</p> <p>Additional specimens examined: PAKISTAN. Fr. 50: 18 (1934)</p> <p>Figure 2: E–F; Figure 4: A–E; Figure 5: B</p> <p>Description:— Pileus 33 mm diam., plano-convex to flat at maturity, umbonate, umbo prominent, surface smooth, dry, margin smooth, slightly incurved, light brown (10YR5/6) at disc, dark gray (7.5YR3/2) towards the margin. Lamellae emarginate, toothed, crowded; edges undulate, white. lamellulae frequent, of different lengths. Stipe 37 × 5 mm, apex slightly wider up to 5.5 mm central, cylindrical, base broad up to 10 mm diam., longitudinally striate, dry, slightly pruinose, brown (2.5YR4/4) in the middle, white from the extreme base and apex. Basal mycelial mat absent.</p> <p>Basidiospores [20/1/1] (5.8‒) 6‒8.2 (‒8.34) × (4‒) 4.6‒5.8 (‒6) μm, [avl × avw = 7.2 × 5 µm, Q = 1.44], ellipsoid, warty, thin-walled, hyaline in 5% KOH, amyloid warts, apiculus present. Basidia 20.8‒33 × 7.6‒11.3 μm, [avl × avw = 28.9 × 9 μm], clavate, 2‒4 spored, thin-walled, hyaline, sterigmata up to 2.9 μm long. Cheilocystidia 28–40 × 7.2–12 μm, [avl × avw = 33 × 9.4 µm], clavate, crystalline apex. Pleurocystidia absent. Pileipellis a cutis of hyphae 4–18.7 μm in diam. (av = 10 µm), thin-walled, septate, branched, hyaline. Stipitipellis composed of cylindrical hyphae 1.8–14.3 μm in diam. (av = 9.3 µm), hyaline.
