Antennae filiform; antennal segments in the following proportions: 17:8:29:35:39:40:31:20:12:12. Head swollen, dull, granulated and reticulate rugose, mostly on the sides; frontal line absent; occipital carina complete; ocellar region swollen; POL = 5.5; OL = 2; OOL = 10; OPL = 2; TL = 4. Pronotum dull, hairy, crossed by a transverse impression, with irregular striae on transverse furrow. Scutum dull, granulated and with numerous irregular keels on lateral regions and near posterior margin. Notauli complete, posteriorly separated. Forewing hyaline, without dark transverse bands; distal part of stigmal vein about twice as long as proximal part (30:15). In a specimen from Sabah, Mendolong, forewing with a dark transverse band. Fore tarsal segments in the following proportions: 32:5:9:26:37. Enlarged claw with 2 subapical teeth and a row of approximately 23 lamellae (distal lamellae longer than other lamellae); in holotype of T. carinatus distal lamella of enlarged claw longer than in holotype of T. philippinus . Segment 5 of fore tarsus with 2 rows of approximately 41 lamellae; distal apex with a group of approximately 4 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1, 1, 2.</p><p>Description of male. The female of this Thaumatodryinus species has the following diagnostic characters: occipital carina complete; head totally testaceous-reddish, granulated and rugose, with OOL slightly longer than POL and with greatest breadth of posterior ocelli about as long as OPL; mesothorax, metathorax and propodeum testaceous-reddish, except propodeum darkened.</p><p>Description of female. Fully winged; length 3.5 mm. Testaceous-reddish, except propodeum darkened. Antennae filiform; antennal segments in the following proportions: 12:6:19:23:19:20:10:11:8:11.
