Elytra with two fascia, yellowish or ochraceous. Subhumeral fascia fairly large, bidentate anteriorly, bidentate or tridentate posteriorly. Subapical fascia narrower and shorter than subhumeral fascia, tridentate anteriorly, slightly inflexed posteriorly. Frons finely and rather densely punctate, on vertex sparsely punctate; distance between eyes 0.29 – 0.37. mm. Pronotum slightly raised above elytra, with anterior edge inflexed and lateral edges moderately sinuate. Antebasal puncture row impressed, not interrupted at middle; discal punctation almost evenly fine and rather dense, puncture intervals mostly 2 to 4 times as large as puncture diameters; consisting of shallow punctures; slightly sparser than that on frons. Prohypomera slightly uneven, with very fine and sparse micropunctation. Mesepisterna with very fine punctation and, additionally, with micropunctation. Elytra weakly convex; humeral protuberance inconspicuos. Discal impression absent, disc slightly impressed apically. Discal punctation fine and rather dense in large inner portion where it is sparser than on pronotum, obsolete in lateral portions. Discal puncture row absent; basal stria row impressed slightly, with punctures about as coarse as punctures of pronotal antebasal row; sutural area flat and impressed, in sutural stria punctures relatively fine. Legs moderately long, mesotibia and metatibia slightly curved. Exposed abdominal tergites with distinct and irregular punctures on most inner portion and micropunctures. Sternite I entirely covered with coarse and distinct micropunctation, in lateral portions additionally with mesh-like microsculpture. Male sexual characters. Metaventrite (Fig. 5) impressed medially, with long semi-erect pubescence, and two long oblique tufts of long pubescence. Profemur (Fig. 9) with ventral side expanded gradually starting from base, with two widest points forming blunt and sharp protuberances in basal 1 / 3 and apical 1 / 3, respectively, followed by ridge .. Protibia (Fig. 9) gradually wider starting from basal 1 / 3, forming angular protuberance at widest point, then followed by ridge and narrowed toward apex. Aedeagus (Fig. 18) 2.00 mm long. Internal sac with group of sclerites (Fig. 21).	en	He, Wen-Jia, Tang, Liang, Li, Li-Zhen (2008): A review of the genus Scaphidium Oliver (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scaphidiinae) from Tianmushan, East China. In general appearence, this species is very similar to S. takemurai Nakane, 1956, S. japonum Reitter, 1877, S. yasumatsui Shirozu & Morimoto, 1963, S. femorale Lewis, 1893, S. montivagumi Shirozu & Morimoto, 1963 from Japan and S. amurense Solsky, 1871 from Russia, Japan and North Korea. The new species can be distinguished based on the characters listed in Table 1.	en	He, Wen-Jia, Tang, Liang, Li, Li-Zhen (2008): A review of the genus Scaphidium Oliver (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scaphidiinae) from Tianmushan, East China. 038D879BA677FFF38FE9C101F95B93B2.taxon	discussion	Remarks. This species was originally described from Fujian Province. Löbl (1992, 1999) published habitus illustrations. Among our specimens, the male from Baishanzu, which is very close to Fujian province, totally agrees with illustrations by Löbl. Two males from Tianmushan display a different pattern: pronotum with two median longitudinal black strips, each subdivided in a short basal strip and an apical round spot.	en	He, Wen-Jia, Tang, Liang, Li, Li-Zhen (2008): A review of the genus Scaphidium Oliver (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scaphidiinae) from Tianmushan, East China. 038D879BA676FFF38FE9C332F9AC9469.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Scaphidium stigmatinotum is closest to S. klapperichi Pic, 1954, but can be easily separated using the key provided in this paper. Scaphidium stigmatinotum differs from all the other Chinese species (excluding S. klapperich) in having a distinct fascia pattern of elytra. For a detailed description see Löbl 1999.	en	He, Wen-Jia, Tang, Liang, Li, Li-Zhen (2008): A review of the genus Scaphidium Oliver (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Scaphidiinae) from Tianmushan, East China.
