Several of these, e.g. C. quadrisignata (Gory & Percheron, 1883), C. curvata Janson, 1888 and C. soror Kraatz, 1883 are highly variable in color and markings, which has led to a number of forms, varieties, and synonyms being described.

Charadronota quadrisignata has been listed from several countries including Ghana (Joly 2001, 2018; Mudge et al. 2012); Benin (Touroult & Le Gall 2001, 2012; Le Gall 2015), Ivory Coast (Fédière et al. 1989), Cameroon (Krajčík 1998) and Central African Republic (Sakai & Nagai 1998). Beinhundner (2017) lists C. quadrisignata from Senegal (the type locality) and Gambia only, and C. curvata as the widespread and highly variable species from Ivory Coast, Niger (type locality Niger District), Ghana, Central African Republic, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. The two species are most reliably separated by differences in the apices of the male parameres. The C. quadrisignata in Mudge et al. 2012 (and likely by other authors as well) may in fact be C. curvata .

Joly (2001, 2018), Sakai & Nagai (1998) and Touroult & Le Gall (2012), list C. leprieuri Burmeister, 1842 from Ghana, Togo, and Benin respectively and we list it again here. Charadronota leprieuri, however, is considered by others to be a synonym of C. quadrisignata (Schoolmeesters 2021, Krajčík 1998, Beinhundner 2017). Until a generic revision is done, we believe the true number of species of Charadronota and their distribution will remain uncertain. At this moment, we list six species from Ghana, including C. curvata, C. quadrisignata, and C. leprieuri .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038A87B6FF9FF815FF13FA7DDA6A97A0	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The other Fornasinius species known from Ghana, F. klingbeili Zöller, Fiebig & Schulze, 1995 is known from the Eastern and Volta Regions as well as neighboring Togo, where the larvae were collected in hyrax (Afrotheria: Hyracoidea) middens (Maquart & Malec 2017).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038A87B6FF9EF815FF13FE85DD479564	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. However, both G. varians and G. sericinitens Bates, 1884 are listed as accepted names (Schoolmeesters 2021). The former includes only three subspecies: Gnathocera varians antoinei Beinhundner, 2006, Gnathocera varians histrionica De Lisle, 1947 and Gnathocera varians roseni Schürhoff, 1939 . Beinhundner (2017) lists Gnathocera varians sericinitens under G. sericinitens Bates, 1884 with reference to Allard (1991) where this name combination is listed and where it may have been first used. Allard (1991) lists this taxon from from Nigeria, Niger and Burkina Faso, and Le Gall (2015), records it from Benin.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038A87B6FF9EF815FF13FDC8DED794FC	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. However, after further study, Joly (2018) listed this species as Niphobleta kraatzi (Kolbe, 1892) in place of N. squamipes (confirmed by P. Antoine and C. Joly, personal communication, August 2018). Hence, we do not include N. squamipes as part of Ghana’s fauna until this record can be verified. Five or six species of Niphobleta are currently recognized including three from Ghana: N. dominula Kraatz, 1880, N. kraatzi, Kolbe, 1892, and N. niveosparsa (Kraatz, 1880) (Beinhundner 2017) .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038A87B6FF9EF815FF13FC70DED993B0	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. As this species is absent from the catalogs of Schenkling (1921), Krajčík (1998, 1999) and Schoolmeesters (2021), we believe it is in error. As further evidence, Janson did publish two papers in 1907 (Janson 1907a,b) but this species was not included in either one. Therefore, this record most likely refers to Acrothyrea scintillans (De Lisle, 1947) which is known from the Ivory Coast (Beinhundner 2017; Moretto & Rojkoff 2021).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/038A87B6FF9EF815FF13FAB4DBCD9158	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
