039C87D2CA5FFFC3FEB0AA7F7FB880E0.taxon	discussion	Comments. Sixteen specimens were examined. Hemilypus obliteratus is the only species of Hemilypus currently known from La Selva. Although very similar to the species of Eugnamptus, it is easily distinguished by the black shiny color and abundant ventral setosity (Fig. 13). The setosity is especially abundant on the legs and distinctly whitish on the scutellum and thoracic pleura. The pedon is bladelike with a bluntly rounded apical tip and the TA is short and wide with two curved forcepslike distal projections (Fig. 1). This species has been taken in Malaise traps in old growth and secondary growth forest. A single male was collected at black light and single males were taken fogging P. macroloba and V. koschnyi.	en	Hamilton, R. W., Novinger, A. L. Eugnamptus longiusculus can be recognized by the overall reddishorange to reddishbrown color, the dark antennae and variably darkened legs. This species is very similar to E. divisus Sharp in color pattern but seems to differ in punctuation. 039C87D2CA64FFFAFEB0A8177C2A82B8.taxon	discussion	Comments. The type series consists of nine specimens. Eugnamptus bellus has a unique color pattern (Fig. 20 b & d). The pattern is consistent with little or no difference between male and female. The pedon (Fig. 8 b) is gradually narrowed from the middle into a narrowly rounded apex with a short median linelike impression. The TA is small and similar to that of E. pusillus and E. herediensis. This species was taken in malaise traps and by beating Inga sp. (Fabaceae). Name derivation. The specific name is derived from the Latin word meaning beautiful.	en	Hamilton, R. W., Novinger, A. L. 039C87D2CA66FFFCFEB0AF77781B82B8.taxon	discussion	Comments. The type series consists of 11 specimens. Eugnamptus balius is easily recognized by the pale yellowish terminal segments of the antennal club and the dark spots and markings on the elytra. The pedon narrows gradually from the middle to the medially fused bilobate apex (Fig. 10 b). The TA is similar to that of E. bellus and E. sarapiquensis but has brushlike radiating sclerotizations around the true gonopore. This species was taken in Malaise traps and by fogging V. koschnyi, G. meiantha and T. guianensis. Name derivation. The specific name refers to the spotlike markings on the elytra.	en	Hamilton, R. 039C87D2CA61FFFDFEB0A88F7CDC85C0.taxon	discussion	Comments. Sixtyfour specimens were examined. Eugnamptus suturalis is recognized by the narrow pale orangish margin that completely borders each dark elytron (Fig. 23). The pedon is parallelsided and broadly rounded at the apex with two very small rounded median projections (Fig 11 b). The TA has elongate parallel sided basal struts and is rounded and swollen distally with a clear central area and two closely set forward projecting median spinelike projections. The distally swollen portion of the TA is minutely bristled. This species was collected mainly by malaise traps although some were collected by hand with beating sheets. A single female was beaten from Alchornea costaricensis Pax and K. Hoffmn (Euphorbiaceae) at La Selva and later oviposited in an unattached leaf of Spondias mombin L. The larvae developed to late instars as blotch leaf miners but failed to pupate.	en	Hamilton, R. W., Novinger, A. L. (2004): Eugnamptine weevils of La Selva, Costa Rica (Coleoptera: Rhynchitidae). 039C87D2CA60FFFEFEB0AE377CEA8610.taxon	discussion	Comments. Fiftysix specimens were examined. The females of E. basalis can be confused with the females of E. suturalis since both have pale margined elytra (Figs. 23 c & 24 c). However, in females of E. basalis the reddishbrown margin along the elytral suture is either expanded into larger areas across the midbase (Fig. 24 d) or completely lacking with the area along the elytral suture dark. In addition, the rostral apex is more widened, flattened and laterally punctate in females of E. suturalis. The males of E. suturalis have the same color pattern as the females while the males of E. basalis are reddishbrown throughout with dark markings only at the base of the elytra (Fig. 24 b). Sharp (1889) described the female of this species as E. godmani. The pedon is parallelsided and narrows abruptly at the apex into a very small vshaped median notch (Fig. 12 b). This species was primarily collected in malaise traps although a few were collected by hand with beating sheets.	en	Hamilton, R. W., Novinger, A. L.
