039887E3FFCFFFF1FF1FF9B720B0FDD2.taxon	discussion	Comments. According to the cladistic analyses, Petila seems related to the New World genus Polycyrtidea, from which it can be differentiated by the lack of a median horn on the supra-antennal area, apicolateral margin of the pronotum not swollen, petiolar spiracle placed on basal 0.45 (vs. near the apex), and sternaulus strongly sinuate (vs. weakly arched). Other distinctive features are indicated by the respective character-states on the corresponding cladograms (Figs 1 – 4). Considering the relationship of the new genus with Polycyrtidea, for which some intra-specific variation is known, it seems reasonable to expect at least the following morphological variation for the species of Petila: posterior transverse carina of propodeum present, though incomplete, ovipositor length 0.4 – 0.7 length of hind tibia, total body length from small to moderate. The most likely color pattern variations should occur on the gaster and mesopleuron. Externally, the Cryptini genus which is most similar to Petila is the Neotropical Bathyzonus Townes, but it was not recovered near Petila in the analyses. Petila can be isolated from Bathyzonus by lacking the fore wing vein Cub (vs. reaching wing margin in Bathyzonus), fore wing vein 2 Cua absent (vs. very short), posterior carina on the propodeum absent, at least in the females (vs. weak to rather strong, complete), temple very wide (vs. narrow), T 1 very slender (vs. moderately stout), and lower valve of ovipositor with apical teeth (vs. absent). Petila differs also from all other genera of Lymeonina by the presence of colliculate sculpturing on the hind coxa and propodeum. Petila can be more easily recognized among other Cryptini by its short ovipositor, small body size, T 1 and T 2 very slender, reduced propodeum (in lateral view smaller than hind coxa), and temple and gena strongly swollen, giving the head a subspherical shape in lateral view. Supra-antennal area smooth, with a short median carina developed centrally only; near ocelli slightly convex, ventrally concave. Supra-clypeal area apically with a V-shaped carina from one antennal foramen to the other, interrupted centrally. Antenna with 24 flagellomeres; white band starting at flagellomere 7, with 2 articles. Clypeus 1.65 wider than high, truncate. Malar space 0.5 length of basal width of mandible. Mesosoma. Epomia very short, sometimes absent. Pronotum with short, strong carina along anterior margin of collar. Mesoscutum subcircular. Notaulus in dorsal view distinct about posterior 0.81. Mesopleuron with dense pilosity reaching partially its ventral half, finely strigate, except subcircular patch anteriorly, below subalar prominence; speculum polished, shiny. Sulcus between sternaulus and scobe distinct. All tibiae and tarsi with numerous bristles; hind femur 4.5 times as long as wide. Metapleuron and propodeum with sparse white pilosity. Pleural carina distinct. Propodeal spiracle small, slightly elongate. Juxtacoxal carina distinct, moderately developed. Fore wing. Pilosity: basal cell with 2 – 3 rows near and along Sc + R, sparse pilosity otherwise; 1 row along sub-basal cell, sparse pilosity apically; posterior wing margin under vein 1 – 1 A basally glabrous; dense pilosity on entire surface of all other cells. Hind wing. Pilosity pattern: sub-basal cell and area between vein 1 – 1 A and posterior wing margin with sparse pilosity; dense pilosity on entire surface of all other cells; usually 5 – 6 apical hamuli (number is proportional to wing size). Metasoma. Petiolar spiracle prominent in dorsal view; spiracle on basal 0.45. Apex of lower valve of ovipositor with 5 teeth; nodus distinct. Color. Yellowish, with brown and white areas. Lateral and dorsal color pattern as in Figs 1, 5. Head. Whitish, except clypeal fovea, mandible apex, and supra-antennal area, brownish. Supra-antennal area centrally light brown (100,069,059) laterally with whitish stripe around eye margin, which is very wide at temple, ventrally reaching occipital carina. Antenna. Scape ventrally, ventral apex of pedicel, first flagellomere and base of 2, pale yellow (205,155,102); scape dorsally, pedicel dorsally and flagellum light brown, generally darker toward apex, except for white band covering completely flagellomeres 7 – 9, base of 6 and apex of 10. Mesosoma. Laterally whitish (212,191,179), except as follows. Pronotum along posterior margin, near the mesopleuron, area between 0.5 apical of prepectal carina, mesopleural fovea, and stripe on the anterior margin of metapleuron, brownish. Mesoscutum dark brown (083,049,043), except for distinctly whitish stripes beside posterior 0.6 of notauli. Scutellum entirely whitish. Propodeum dark brown, with a sinuate whitish mark beyond the anterior transversal carina (Fig. 5). Legs. Fore and mid coxae and trochanters whitish. Hind coxa yellow with a large lateral brown stripe. All femora yellow ferruginous, progressively darker from fore to hind. All tibia and tarsi whitish yellow, except all apical tarsomeres dark brown. Metasoma. Brownish. Petiole basally and postpetiole apically with wide yellow stripe; T 2 apical 0.4 yellow. T 3 – 8 apical margin with wide yellow stripe, becoming slightly narrower laterally. Ovipositor. Yellowish, apically pale orange (204,151,73). Male. Unknown. FIGURES. 5 – 10. Petila capixaba, female holotype. 5, habitus; 6, head, anterior; 7, head, dorsal; 8, ovipositor; 9, head and mesosoma, dorsal; 10, mesosoma lateral.	en	Tedesco, Anazélia M., Aguiar, Alexandre P.
