Wing length 1.7mm in male and 1.8mm in female. Penultimate section of CuA1 0.52 times the length of the last section; transversal vein r-m situated at middle level of the discal cell. Gena-to-eye ratio 0.15. Acrostichal setae in six rows; dorsocentral setae 0+3 (anterior only a little longer than the acrostichals).</p><p>Coloration. Ocellar triangle brown; fronto-orbital plate brownish to upper orbital seta, distinctly yellow below; face grayish; frons brownish in upper half, distinctly yellow below; escape brown pedicel brown first flagellomere brown; palpus brown; gena yellow. Mesonotum brown with small yellow patches at hind corner; notopleuron yellow; anepisternum brown with border yellow; anepimeron brown with border yellow; legs brown with apex of femur and base of tibia yellow in the fore leg. Calypter white with margin black; fringe black. Halteres yellow.</p><p>Male genitalia (Fig. 12 to 16). Epandrium with 8 to 11 spines at hind corner; surstylus subtriangular with 3 or 4 spines and some slender setae; hypandrium V-shaped, without apodeme; basiphallus weakly sclerotized; mesophallus claviform with a digitiform projection basally; subtriangular sclerite present between mesophallus and distiphallus; distiphallus compact, fused in basal half with lateral expansion basally and two tubules rotated in opposite directions over the distiphallus; ejaculatory apodeme short, enlarged apically.</p><p>Female genitalia (Fig. 17 to 21). Ninth abdominal sternite wider apically; four pairs of marginal setae, the lateral pair smaller than others; ninth abdominal tergite slender, ending before the apex of the ninth abdominal sternite and with a pair of long apical setae; cercus elongated with four tactile sensilla; spermatheca rounded spermatic duct sclerotized in apex; eggs guide subquadrangular; ventral receptacle T-shaped.</p><p>Host-plants. Hyptis mutabilis (A. Rich) Briq. and Hyptis sp. ( Lamiaceae). Larvae forming star-shaped blotch mine with a mass of black frass accumulate in center (Fig. 22).</p><p>Type material. In Greek mythology, a dryad is a tree nymph who is an integral part of their trees, such that if the tree died, the dryad associated with it died as well (similar to the leafminer fly and its host-pant).</p><p>Distribution. Brazil (Pará).</p><p>Remarks. Four Calycomyza species are leaf miners of Hyptis: Calycomyza arcuata, Calycomyza hyptidis Spencer, Calycomyza hyptisicola Spencer and Calycomyza menthae Spencer (Benavent-Corai et al. 2005) . Epandrium with 14 to 17 spines at hind corner; surstylus subtriangular with 3 spines and a row of setae; hypandrium V-shaped, without apodeme; basiphallus subcircular, with two extensions apically, the longer about twice the length of the shorter and with a spherical gap basally; mesophallus enlarged basally; distiphallus forming two sclerotized tubules, slightly up-curving; ejaculatory apodeme short, enlarged apically.</p><p>Female genitalia (Fig. 39 to 43). The mesophallus and the distiphallus of this species are slightly wider than in Spencer (1963) description, but we consider that the shape of the aedeagus, especially in the extension of the basiphallus, and the first flagellomere are identical to Calycomyza richardsi . Ninth abdominal sternite V-shaped, wider apically and with many small sensilla; three pairs of marginal setae equidistant from each other, the apical pair of marginal setae twice the length of the others; ninth abdominal tergite slender, ending before the apex of the ninth abdominal sternite and with a pair of long setae apically; cercus oval with four tactile sensilla; spermatheca rounded with spermatic duct widely in apex; eggs guide subtriangular; ventral receptacle T-shaped.</p><p>Host-plants. Rolandra fruticosa (L.) Kuntze ( Asteraceae). Larvae forming blotch-like mines on the adaxial leaf surface (Fig. 11).</p><p>Type material. The specific epithet is based in the host-plant genus ( Rolandra Rottb.).</p><p>Distribution. Brazil (Pará).</p><p>Remarks. The male genitalia of Calycomyza rolandrae sp. nov. is similar to male genitalia of Calycomyza michiganensis Steyskal and Calycomyza chilena Spencer, but C. rolandrae sp. nov. is distinguishable by the mesophallus curving downward apically and the projections of the distiphallus.
