03A21E16FFC7E248FF64F8E32AE3FB42.taxon	description	Description of the general characters in Sabah: Male. Body mostly orange-yellow to yellow, slightly darkened pronotum, and metathorax and abdomen darkened in a few species. Antennae yellow, with several dark brown to blackish brown antennomeres in certain species. Eyes black. Head relatively flat, almost entirely covered with hairs and fine punctures on the dorsal surface. Antennal sockets located between the eyes, relatively large, occupying a large space. Eyes large, varying in prominence. First antennomere longest, bent inward, rather densely punctated, and hairy throughout; second antennomere shortest, gradually widening posteriorly; third to eighth antennomeres vary in shape from swollen to flat depending on species, having various granules, prominent furrows, or ridges on the surface in some species; ninth and subsequent antennomeres nearly straight, densely punctated and hairy throughout; as this state is most common in the family Cantharidae, in this paper, this state has been referred to as typical. Pronotum usually wider than head, width exceeding length in varying degrees; disc broadly raised, having nearly parallel depressions along anterior and posterior margins, sparsely covered with small punctures and relatively long hairs; remaining surface smooth and glossy; porus, which is used by Wittmer, presumed to refer to large punctures, indistinct; anterior and posterior angles protrude considerably; side with rear of the anterior angle indented; distinct groove extending from this point dividing hypomeron into front and rear parts; side widening posteriorly, reaching the widest point, called central projection near the center, then narrowing gradually toward depression in front of the posterior angle, with a deep incision running diagonally forward between them; lobe-like part on the outer side of the incision; herein, referred to as the lateral lobe; lateral lobe width variable in dorsal view, with its inner tip usually located more posteriorly than the outer tip, its apical margin variably emarginate or straight; posterior angle also slightly protrudes dorsally; disc broadly raised, having nearly parallel depressions along the anterior and posterior margins; the raised area divided into two by a longitudinal groove in the basal half. Elytra densely covered with punctures and hairs; surface wrinkled except basal parts. Legs slender, punctuated, and hairy throughout, with no prominent features. All claws with nearly triangular teeth at the base; outer claw of the fore-claw cleft and inner claw simple in most species; both claws of the mid-claw usually simple, although cleft outer claw and simple inner claw observed in a few species; both claws of hind-claw simple. Eighth sternite deeply cleft, roughly divided into two pieces. Aedeagus with dorsal surface of paramere usually extending posteriorly beyond ventral surface, shallowly concave at the middle in dorsal view in many species. Ventral surface broadly protruding; referred to in this paper as ventral protrusion. Ventral protrusion various concavities observed in ventral view, with lateral or posterior views differing among species. Laterophyse long and thick, curved outward in ventral view, extending further posteriorly than the tip of the dorsal side of paramere; apex sharply bending dorsally and tapering toward tip in most species. Female. Critical characteristics for identifying species: antennae and pronotum observed in males are not as evident in females. Hence, currently, it is challenging to determine the females accurately; therefore, females are not described here.	en	Takahashi, Kazuhiro, Dawood, Mahadimenakbar Mohamed (2025): Notes on the genus Asiosilis Wittmer, 1977 (Coleoptera, Cantharidae, Silinae) in northern Borneo.
