03AB87BCFFA3FFCAFF2CFBA5FE4262F8.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The male of C. comaticus has a characteristically shaped S 7 (Fig. 1 c) that is apically much narrower than in the closely related C. bernadettae Kuhlmann (Fig. 1 d) and C. comatoides Kuhlmann & Proshchalykin (Fig. 1 f). In C. comatus Noskiewicz the apical emargination of S 7 is shallower and it has numerous lateral hairs at its base (Fig. 1 e) that are lacking in C. comaticus. Furthermore, T 7 is apically shallowly emarginate (Fig. 2 b) in C. comaticus (similar in C. comatus) while C. bernadettae (Fig. 2 d) and C. comatoides (Fig. 2 f) have clearly developed spines. The disc of T 2 is almost completely covered with short appressed hairs in C. comaticus (Fig. 2 a) and C. comatus while in C. bernadettae (Fig. 2 c) and C. comatoides (Fig. 2 e) the disc is glabrous to a variable extend. The punctation on the disc of T 1 is coarser, more dispersed and shiny between punctures in C. bernadettae than in the three other species who have very fine and dense punctation.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA6FFCCFF2CFF4FFE426138.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Within the C. squamosus group C. uzbekus belongs to a group of large and robust (> 8 mm) species with dense and moderately coarse punctation on T 1 (Fig. 3 d) that include C. squamulosus Noskiewicz, C. bernadettae Kuhlmann and C. sellatus Morawitz. The latter has a uniquely modified mesoscutellum that is medioapically deeply depressed with lateral apically directed processes. In the similar sized C. squamosus Morawitz, C. wollmanni Noskiewicz, C. ottomanus Noskiewicz the punctation of T 1 is much coarser with puncture diameters about double the size while it is very fine in all other species of this group. Colletes squamulosus differs from C. uzbekus most obviously by the very short scale-like hairs that form the apical tergal hair bands (long hairs in C. uzbekus, Fig. 3 d). In C. bernadettae these hairs are slightly shorter and broader than in C. uzbekus, the punctation of the terga and the disc of the clypeus is slightly coarser, and punctures are a bit more dispersed and more clearly defined.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA7FFCFFF2CFC0AFE6A62F8.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The female of C. issykkuli is very similar to and difficult to distinguish from C. kozlovi Friese so female reference specimens are required for a reliable identification while males are readily identifyable. However, C. issykkuli seems to be endemic to the western part of the basin of Lake Issyk-Kul where C. kozlovi is apparently absent so the locality information can be used as a criterion for identification. As C. kozlovi is well characterized (Noskiewicz 1936) the diagnosis is limited to the differences between both species. In C. issykkuli the apical metasomal hair bands (Fig. 4 b) are very slightly broader and the hairless disc of T 2 is narrower than the apical metasomal hair band while in C. kozlovi the latter is about as wide (Fig. 4 d).	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA4FFC1FF2CF9DFFD9360A8.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The male of C. kaline has been unknown and is described here for the first time based on specimens collected at the same locality and season as the female. The pilosity pattern of the male differed from that of C. morawitzensis Kuhlmann & Proshchalykin as predicted (Proshchalykin & Kuhlmann 2015 a).	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. (2015): New and remarkable Asian and North African species of Colletes Latreille (Hymenoptera: Colletidae). Zootaxa 4028 (1): 81-101, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4028.1.3
03AB87BCFFA4FFC1FF2CF9DFFD9360A8.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Within the C. flavicornis - group the only male with an apically smooth and shiny, conspicuously raised clypeus known so far has been C. morawitzensis. As explained in the description of this species (Proshchalykin & Kuhlmann 2015 a) it is very unlikely that it is the male of two species only known from females that have a similarly formed clypeus, namely C. kaline Kuhlmann & Proshchalykin and C. pallipes Noskiewicz. Recently two male specimens with the characteristic raised clypeus became available for study that fit the body size and pilosity pattern expected for C. kaline. The male of C. kaline differs from C. morawitzensis by its larger body (9 mm instead of 7.5 mm), shorter malar area (medially about 1.2 times as long as width of mandible base; 1.5 times as long in C. morawitzensis), broader apical tergal hair bands and more extensive pilosity of short, appressed hair at the base of metasomal terga (Figs 5 b, c) compared to C. morawitzensis (Fig. 5 d). S 7 is apically distinctly broader (Fig. 5 e) than in C. morawitzensis.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFABFFC3FF2CFC09FE42640A.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. The female of C. tibestensis is larger (8 mm) than other species of the C. nanus - group except C. maroccanus Warncke whose metasomal terga are less covered with short appressed hairs (hairless disc of T 2 about 1.5 x as wide as apical tergal hair band; in C. tibestensis hairless disc narrower than apical tergal hair band, Fig. 7 d). Colletes tibestensis can be clearly identified by the combination of the following characters: large body size, clypeus mostly flat, sparsely and coarsely punctate (Fig. 7 b) (in other species of the group clypeus distinctly convex, more densely and finely punctate), supraclypeal area broad and mostly flat (distinctly convex in other species of the group), finely striate and slightly matt, punctation on the disc of T 1 very fine and dense (Fig. 7 d), even finer and denser than in C. nanus Friese.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA8FFC4FF2CF97AFB6763AD.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. In both male and female of C. packeri the metasomal terga are extremely finely and densely punctate and the apical tergal hair bands are very narrow (Fig. 9 c, 10 a). Within the C. clypearis group these characters are only shared with C. sodalis (Cameron) (Fig. 9 d, 10 b) making them unmistakable. Thus, the diagnosis is here restricted to the differences between them. In the female the punctation of terga is more dispersed in C. packeri and apical tergal hair bands are narrower (Fig. 9 c) than in C. sodalis (Fig. 9 d). The punctation of the clypeus is slightly denser in C. sodalis (Fig. 9 b) than in C. packeri (Fig. 9 a). In the males, differences in punctation and pilosity of metasomal terga match those of the females (Figs 10 a, b). In C. packeri S 7 is yellowish-brown, shorter and narrower (Fig. 10 c) than in C. sodalis that is dark brown (Fig. 10 d).	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA8FFC4FF2CF97AFB6763AD.taxon	etymology	Etymology. This species is dedicated to our colleague Laurence Packer, York University, Toronto, Canada, who has collected some of the specimens as a little “ thank you ” for years of fruitful collaboration. General distribution. Known from tropical low lands up to 2500 m in Thailand and Laos. Floral hosts. Unknown.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFA8FFC4FF2CF97AFB6763AD.taxon	discussion	Remarks. At least some of the C. sodalis specimens reported from Yunnan (China) (Niu et al. 2013 b) belong to C. packeri. The morphological differences between typical C. sodalis and those from Yunnan were interpreted as geographical variation. However, since both species are now known from the wider Chang Mai area (Thailand) without showing significant intraspecific variation, their status as two different species is confirmed.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFAFFFC6FF2CF966FE426365.taxon	diagnosis	Diagnosis. Colletes jemeniticus belongs to a taxonomically very difficult group of predominantly sub-Saharan species related to C. rufitarsis Friese that have mostly tropical and subtropical distributions. In addition to this new species, this group comprises eight described species, namely C. opacus Friese, C. rufitarsis Friese, C. abessinicus Friese, C. michaelis Cockerell, C. senkelensis Kuhlmann, C. gorillarum Cockerell, C. marleyi Cockerell and C. fascicularis Cockerell (Kuhlmann 1998, Kuhlmann & Pauly 2013) and more than ten undescribed species. Colletes jemeniticus is closely related to C. opacus and in the male both species share a relative small round S 7 (Fig. 11 c) (about 1 / 3 larger in C. rufitarsis, different shapes and sizes in the other species of the group) that is yellowish brown in C. jemeniticus (dark brown in C. opacus). In C. jemeniticus the apical margin of T 1 is strongly bended upwards forming a carina (Fig. 11 b) (flat in C. opacus), apical tergal margins broad, strongly depressed, medially distinctly separated from the disc and broadly yellowish to reddish translucent (Fig. 11 b) (in C. opacus narrower, less depressed, medially hardly separated from the disc and narrowly yellowish to reddish translucent).	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFB0FFDBFF2CFB56FAF867F8.taxon	discussion	Comments. A re-examination of the type of C. salsolae revealed that it belongs to the C. squamosus group (stated as “ ungeklärte Gruppenzugehörigkeit ” by Kuhlmann 2000) and that it is identical with C. omanus described from Oman. Colletes salsolae seems to be widespread on the southern Arabian Peninsula (Kuhlmann 2004, 2014) but the type specimen so far is the only record from the African continent (Sudan, Khor Garar, 37 ° 07 ' E 19 ° 58 ' N).	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu. 03AB87BCFFB1FFDAFF2CFF01FD8660A4.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Females of C. uralensis have been rarely collected and only when we recently re-examined the type material of this species (Proshchalykin & Kuhlmann 2015 a) we discovered that the female of C. kaszabi Kuhlmann has occasionally been misinterpreted as C. uralensis (Proshchalykin & Kuhlmann 2015 b). As part of the ongoing study of the Central Asia species it has now become clear that C. kipyatkovi, which was described based on females only, is a synonym of C. uralensis.	en	Kuhlmann, Michael, Proshchalykin, Maxim Yu.
