Puebla, 15 km W of Izúcar de Matamoros, 27.vi.1981, J. LaSalle [1♀].

Description. FEMALE (holotype). Body mostly dark brown except base (about 2/5) of gaster yellow to light brown, hypopygium brown, posterior half of midlobe of mesoscutum, borders of axilla and scutellum, and dorsellum brown. Legs and antenna light brown to brown.

Antenna. Scape 6.6× as long as wide; pedicel much longer than F1; all funicular segments at least 2× as long as wide; F1 the shortest funicular segment, F2 slightly longer than F1 and a little shorter than F3, F3 as long as F4 and F5, F6 the longest funicular segment; F1–F5 without mps, F6 with 1 or 2 mps; clava 4× as long as wide, with 5 mps.

Wings. Fore wing 6.8× as long as wide; blade slightly infumate beyond venation but otherwise hyaline, with setae in the distal 3/5; longest marginal cilia 2× greatest width of wing. Hind wing about 18.5× as long as wide, a little shorter than fore wing; blade infumate apically; longest marginal cilia 2.5× greatest wing width.

Metasoma. Petiole wider than long. Gaster longer than mesosoma; ovipositor about 7/10 length of gaster, exserted beyond apical gastral tergum by about 1/5 of total ovipositor length, 1.7× length of metatibia.

Measurements of holotype (in Μm, as length or length:width). Body 553; mesosoma 172; gaster 258 ovipositor 265. Antenna:scape (including radicle) 485; pedicel 36; F1 12; F2 24; F3 24; F4 30; F5 25; F6 58; clava 111. Fore wing 443:71; longest marginal cilia 141. Hind wing 430:25; longest marginal cilia 74.

Variation (paratypes). Body length 554–694 Fore wing 6.0–6.8× as long as wide. Ovipositor 1.3–1.8× length of metatibia.

Diagnosis. In Triapitsyn et al. (2007), this new taxon keys to the same couplet as E. (Erythmelus) noeli (Dozier) . It is most similar to E. (Erythmelus) noeli (Dozier) and E. (Erythmelus) fidalgoi Triapitsyn, but differs from the female of E. noeli as indicated in the key and from E. fidalgoi because the fore wing has more setae.

MALE. Unknown.

Etymology. This species is a noun in apposition standing for the Maya people.

Hosts. Unknown.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03A8D605885C610CA0D0FCEF4289F875	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Holotype female on slide [UCRC]: MEXICO. Veracruz, 3 mi. N of Cardel by Río Actopan, 31.x.1982, A. González-Hernández, J. T. Huber, screen sweeping [UCRC ENT 311401]. Paratype: Chiapas, 30 km SW of Ocozocoahutla, 30.vi.1981, J. LaSalle [1♀ on slide, CNC].

Description. FEMALE. Body length 554–800 µm. Body mostly light brown except posterior half of midlobe of mesoscutum, parts of pronotum, axilla, scutellum, and metanotum, and basal gastral terga yellow to light brown; legs and antenna light brown or dusky.

Scape slightly curved, about 6.6× as long as wide; pedicel much longer than F1; all funicular segments longer than wide, F2, F3 and F5 subequal in length, F4 and F6 slightly longer and subequal, F1–F5 without mps, F6 with 1 mps; clava about 4.8× as long as wide, apparently with 5 mps.

Wings. Fore wing 6.0× as long as wide; blade slightly infuscate behind venation but otherwise hyaline, more or less uniformly setose including behind venation (with two irregular rows of setae behind parastigma); longest marginal cilia 0.84× greatest wing width. Hind wing about 20× as long as wide; blade hyaline; longest marginal cilia 3.2× greatest wing width.

Metasoma. Petiole much wider than long. Gaster longer than mesosoma; ovipositor about 1/2 length of gaster, a little exserted beyond apical gastral tergum, and 1.25× length of metatibia.

Holotype measurements (in Μm). Body 800; mesosoma 270; gaster 326; ovipositor 228. Antenna:scape (including radicle) 141; pedicel 49; F1 25; F2 25; F3 25; F4 43; F5 25; F6 49; clava 111. Fore wing 540:86; longest marginal cilia 74. Hind wing 510:31; longest marginal cilia 105.

Variation (paratype in Μm). Body length 554; Fore wing 6.1× as long as wide. Ovipositor as long as metatibia.

MALE. Unknown.

Diagnosis. In Triapitsyn et al. (2007), this species keys to the same couplet as E. (Erythmelus) coviellai Triapitsyn. It differs from the female of E. coviellai in F3–F5 without mps, F4 and F6 larger than other funicular segments and equal in size. It differs from E. hirtipenis because F4 is smaller or equal than F5, and F6 is the only segment larger than the others.

Etymology. This species is a noun in apposition standing for the professional Mexican football (soccer) club, Club de Fútbol Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, commonly referred to as Tigres de la UANL, or simply Tigres .

Hosts.
