03B46F27FFD5FF836DC3FD06FC1A941E.taxon	discussion	Comments: Widespread species, known from Angola, Botswana, Congo, Mozambique, Namibia, RSA, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Members of different populations in some parts of its range are morphologically distinct. However, the presence of transitional forms in the structure of the apex of the aedeagus, as well as similar structure of the endophallus, prevents us from separating them with certainty into different species. However, it is possible that genetic studies will make it possible to assign a species status to the subspecies described by us. We divide the species into five subspecies across its range (Map. 3).	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.) 03B46F27FFD5FF876DC3FB9EFBB39352.taxon	description	Redescription. Body length 5.02 – 6.05 mm; width 3.35 – 4.03 mm. Habitus (Fig. 27 – 30). Color: Elytra, sides of pronotum and head yellow. Labrum, antennae and legs flavescent; pattern on elytra, pronotum and head metallic green. Venter, excluding epipleura, dark rufopiceous. Proepipleura and elytral epipleura pale piceous. Head moderately flat, coarsely punctate laterally and posteriorly, more sparsely punctate around clypeus and on middle of frons, with punctures deep and with sides distinctly margined. Pale pattern on head V-shaped and well-developed. Clypeus with small wrinkles and bisetose, anterior margin formed by two straight lines meeting at an obtuse angle. Labrum slightly bisinuate, with six setae. Subocular ridge well developed. Antennal scape unisetose at apex, antennomeres 3 and 4 with 4 – 6 setae, antennomeres 5 – 11 pubescent. HW: 1.59 – 1.75 mm. Pronotum (PL: 1.18 – 1.37 mm, PW: 2.63 – 2.91 mm.) moderately convex, transverse, base bisinuate, sides slightly rounded, hind angles almost acute. Sides of pronotum with relatively wide border. Pronotum sparsely but coarsely punctate, punctures denser along anterior and posterior margins; metallic green pattern wide, anterior margin more or less yellowish, lateral margins with broad yellow edging. Median line almost obsolete or reduced. Prosternum coarsely and irregularly punctate. Elytra (EL: 3.18 – 3.49 mm, EW: 3.35 – 4.0 mm) moderately convex, ovate, sides hardly widened behind humerus. Elytra with 15 striae, extended from base to apex. Striae deep, punctate, with punctures distinct, well separated, shallower toward apex. Intervals moderately convex and smooth, more convex and narrower laterally. Venter (Fig. 35). Mesepisternum smooth. Metasternum coarsely and irregularly punctate. Ventrite I punctate along anterior margin; ventrite II with few punctures near coxa and near elytral epipleura; ventrites III – VI smooth. Metacoxae bisetose, without additional punctures. Aedeagus (Figs. 39 – 41). Apical lamella slightly downturned, apex relatively wide in comparison with other subspecies. Endophallus is typical for the species: with two groups of medium sized spines. One group is large and situated in distal part tubular formation, extended to basal orifice of median lobe, and covered with scales. The second group of spines is much smaller, located more apically and to the right (anatomically) of the first and extended apically beyond the first group by about half its length (Fig. 46).	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.) 03B46F27FFD5FF876DC3FB9EFBB39352.taxon	discussion	Comments. Omophron dominicense was described by Chaudoir, 1868: 58 based on a single specimen received from A. Deyrolle with label “ S Domingo ” [label error]. The type specimen was studied by S. W. Nichols in 1983 and synonymy with O. capensis was established, but not published. This synonymy is confirmed here. The population living on the coast, in the Cape Town area, is distinguished by a slightly larger body size and a reduced green pattern on the elytra (Fig. 27 – 28), and was described by Guérin-Méneville (1842: 24) as Omophron suturale. No differences were found in the structure of the aedeagus. The previously proposed by S. W. Nichols, but unpublished synonymy is confirmed.	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.) Habitus (Fig. 34) Color: head, pronotum, elytra, and venter brown, legs and antennae light brown. Mandibles dark brown. Pattern on head, elytra and pronotum dark green, with purple tinge. General taxon characteristics correspond to those given in the description of the nominate subspecies. Distinguishing features are indicated in the differential diagnosis and key. Head (HW: 1.54 – 1.60 mm). Pronotum (PL: 1.32 – 2.36 mm, PW: 2.72 – 2.79 mm). Elytra (EL: 3.42 – 3.51 mm, EW: 3.39 – 3.44 mm.) moderately convex, elongate, sides moderately rounded at the shoulders and near the apex, with relatively wide border. Elytral pattern broad, with isolated pale spot near humerus in the area of intervals 8 – 9. Elytral striae deep, weakly punctate, punctures small and shallow, evanescent in the anterior two-thirds of the elytra but extended to the apex. Intervals flat on the disc, moderately convex on sides. Venter (Fig. 38). Metasternum, metepisternum and metepimeron sparsely and unevenly punctate; elytral epipleura smooth. Metacoxa bisetose. Aedeagus (Fig. 45). Ventral side of median lobe moderately arcuate from base to apex. Apex truncate, strongly downturned in lateral view. Apical lamella long, sides of aedeagus taper sharply towards the top, forming the shape of a “ bottle neck ”. Endophallus is typical for the species: with two groups of medium sized spines. One is large and situated in distal part tubular formation, extended to basal orifice of median lobe, and covered with scales. The second group of spines is much smaller, located more apically and to the left of the first and extended apically beyond the first group by about half its length (Fig. 51).	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.) 03B46F27FFDBFFB06DC3F937FC98914E.taxon	discussion	Comments. O. severini was described based on a single female specimen from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Later, two other species were described from DRC: O. ghesquierei, based on a single male, and O. dissimile, based on a long serie of specimens (Deleve, 1924). Our study of the type material, as well as additional material, suggests that they are synonyms. The distinguishing features indicated in the description are most intraspecific variation. No distinct differences in the shape of the aedeagus and sac were not found. More material is needed for a final decision, but we propose both names as new synonymies here.	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.) 03B46F27FFE2FFBA6DC3F9FCFB169704.taxon	discussion	Comments. Perhaps O. capicola oneili Bänninger, 1949 (Fig. 87) should be considered as a valid subspecies or species. It is distinguished by a yellow-brown coloration, without a metallic pattern, and is known only from its type locality on the coast. Unfortunately, the aedeagus has not been studied.	en	Anichtchenko, Alexander, Valainis, Uldis (2023): Revision of the subgenus Omophron (s. str.)
