Paratype 3: Total length 17; length of pronotum 3.5; length of tegmen 13; width of pronotum 5; width of tegmen 4.5.

General coloration light brown, hyaline and glossy (Fig. 1). Head light-colored, with forehead darker than clypeus (Fig. 2); palpi with golden tomentosity. Pronotum hyaline with dark spots on central disk (Fig. 3). Tegmina with darkbrown spots bordering the veins. Legs light brown.

Head dorsally enlarged, with exposed vertex under pronotum in dorsal view. Triangular head, large eyes, interocular space measuring approximately two-thirds of distance between bases of antennal insertions. Maxillary palps with fifth article dilated.

Thorax with elliptical pronotum. Tegmina and wings fully developed, extending beyond the end of the abdomen, the former with oblique discoidal sectors. Hind wing radial veins with three simple and complete and two bifurcated branches, cubitus vein with two simple and one bifurcate branches; apical triangle small, anal field folded fanwise. Legs with front femur with ventrocephalic margin bearing 3 or 4 long spines followed by 7 spines, starting at about midlength of femur, ending in 2 apical spines (Type B2); ventrocaudal margin with three well-spaced long spines toward the apex plus one apical spine; middle and hind femora bearing six or seven well-spaced, developed spines.

Abdomen with tergal modification slightly ciliated on seventh tergite (Fig. 4); symmetrical supranal plate with long cerci and without apical indentation (Fig. 5); subgenital plate, with small projection with spines between the styles (Fig. 6); Left phallomere with different arms, sclerotized median structure (Fig. 7). Hook-shaped right phallomere (Fig. 8). Median sclerite with elongated apex (Figs. 9, 10).

Etymology. The specific name refers to the apex of the median sclerite.

Type material. Holotype 3, Brazil, Acre, Senador Guiomard, Reserva Catuaba (10º4’S, 67º36’W), 30 June 2002, Elder F. Morato leg. (in nest 1895/1 of the wasp Podium sp., ( Sphecidae); paratype 3, same collection data as holotype, 17 July 2002, Elder F. Morato, leg. (in nest 1935/1 of the wasp Podium sp., Sphecidae); paratype ♀, same collection site as holotype, 0 4 February 2002, Elder F. Morato, leg. (in nest 1292/2 of the wasp Podium sp., Sphecidae); paratype 3, Brazil, Amazonas, Coari, Urucu River (4º51’56.5” S, 65º4’56.6”W), 11–18 May 1991, P. Buhrnhein, N. O. Aguiar & F.A. Fé, leg.

Diagnosis. The male of D. spiculata sp. nov. is similar to D. colorata Rocha e Silva Albuquerque, 1966 in the configuration of the left phallomere, but can be distinguished by the shape of the apex of the subgenital plate and the of the apex of the median sclerite (see Figs. 4 and 5 in Rocha e Silva-Albuquerque, 1966).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03B8CD4B3812072CFF6D3325FBC3BB68	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
