HOLOTYPE, 1♀, COLOMBIA, Valle del Cauca, Cali, Universidad del Valle, <a href="https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/search?materialsCitation.longitude=-76.533714&amp;materialsCitation.latitude=3.3423889" title="Search Plazi for locations around (long -76.533714/lat 3.3423889)">Microestación</a>, 3°20’32.60”N 76°32’01.37”W, 984m alt., Colecta manual, 23-VIII-2013, L. Perez leg. (UNAB) . PARATYPE, 1♀, COLOMBIA, Valle, Cali, Felidia, El Diamante, 990m alt., captura jama, Carretera, 26-XII-2009, L. Mardharst leg. (UNAB) &lt;illustrated female &gt;.</p><p>Etymology. Genitive singular; name in reference to the collection locality in Vale del Cauca, Colombia.</p><p>Diagnosis. Anterior and anterolateral margins of pronotum whitish, impunctate; anterior and anterolateral margins of pronotum with black punctuations. Disk of scutellum callused, ivory. Abdominal sternite VII immaculate medially. Each laterotergite VIII subtriangular, lacking spiracle; posterior margin of each laterotergite VIII with an acute projection. Anterior margin of each gonocoxite IX straight, posterior margin notched medially. Pars intermedialis short, straight basally and shorter than capsula seminalis. Capsula seminalis globose, with lateral and apical projections.</p><p>Description. Head wider than long; head surface irregular, with few brownish punctuations; antennomeres I–III entirely brownish, IV–V brownish basally. Proportion of antennomeres I &lt;II&gt; III&lt;IV &lt;V. Anterior and anterolateral margins of pronotum whitish, impunctate, bordered by a line of dark punctuations (Fig. 3). Evaporatorium brownish (Fig. 4). Disk of scutellum callused, ivory (Fig. 1). Posterolateral angles of connexivum black and acute. Abdominal sternites with a sublateral band of brownish punctuations; a rounded, yellowish spot laterally on each abdominal sternite.</p><p>Female genitalia (Figs 5–7). Genital plates setose (Figs 5–6). Gonocoxites VIII (gc8) concave, wider than long, posterior margins sinuous, sutural margins parallel not juxtaposed. Gonapophyses VIII (g8) visible between gonocoxites VIII. Laterotergites VIII (la8) subtriangular, lacking spiracles; posterior margin of each laterotergite VIII with an acute projection. Gonocoxites IX (gc9) strongly convex; anterior margin straight; posterior margin notched medially. Laterotergites IX (la9) depressed basally; laterotergites IX extending beyond posterior margin of tergite VIII. Segment X rectangular. Chitinellipsen (ch) elliptical; thickening of vaginal intima (tvi) globose (Fig. 7). Proximal ductus receptaculi (pdr) longer than vesicular area (va); distal ductus receptaculi (ddr) as long as vesicular area; pars intermedialis (pi) narrower basally than apically, shorter than capsula seminalis; posterior annular flange (paf) wider than anterior annular flange (aaf); capsula seminalis (cs) globose with lateral and apical projections.</p><p>Measurements. Total length, 7.31 ± 0.26 (7.12–7.50); length of head, 1.13 ± 0.01 (1.12–1.15); head length ahead of eyes, 0.875; interocular distance, 1.03 ± 0.05 (1.00–1.07); length of antennal segments: I, 0.35 ± 0.03 (0.32–0.37); II, 0.85 ± 0.03 (0.82–0.85); III, 0.78 ± 0.05 (0.75–0.82); IV, 1.37; V, 1.62; width of head, 1.87 ± 0.03 (1.85–1.90); width of pronotum, 4.32 ± 0.24 (4.15–4.50); length of pronotum, 1.67 ± 0.03 (1.65–1.70); width of scutellum, 2.45 ± 0.08 (2.39–2.50); length of scutellum, 2.79 ± 0.08 (2.73–2.85); width of abdomen at third segment, 4.31 ± 0.08 (4.25–4.37).</p><p>Distribution. Colombia (Fig. 16).</p><p>Comments. The dorsal habitus of E. colombiana sp. nov. and E. scutomaculata are similar by the presence of an ivory spot on the disk of scutellum. Both species can be distinguished from each other by the coloration of the antennae, by the vestiture of the anterior and lateral margins of pronotum, and presence or absence of a black spot on abdominal sternite VII medially. The female genitalia of E. colombiana sp. nov. and E. diamphidiosa Grazia, Barros &amp; Barão, 2016 are alike, but in the former la8 lack spiracles, posterolateral angles of la8 acute, gc9 swollen, and capsula seminalis globose, bearing two projections, and shorter than pars intermedialis.</p></div>	https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03B84F22080AFFF260B5F956FB486F75	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Dorsal rim and ventral rim of pygophore, each with a medial process; head of parameres quadrate covering segment X basally; process of segment X spatulate, narrower basally than apically, and U-shaped apically, surpassing posterior margin of pygophore. Pars intermedialis elongate, as long as capsula seminalis. Capsula seminalis ovate with a lateral process.</p><p>Description. Head wider than long, castaneous with black punctuation, proportion of antennomeres I &lt;II &lt;III &lt;IV &lt;V. Evaporatorium black. Ventral pleurites and sternites of males black (Fig. 9). In females (Fig. 11), abdominal sternites yellowish with scattered brownish spots; lateral margins of each abdominal sternite immaculate; posterolateral angles of each abdominal sternites black. Legs with black spots.</p><p>Male genitalia (Figs 12–13). Pygophore rectangular (longer than wider); posterolateral angles (pa), dorsal rim, and parameres (par) densely setose. Medial process of dorsal rim robust, notched posteriorly, almost reaching parameres. Ventral rim divided into two layers, the inferior and superior layers of ventral rim; area between the two layers excavated and setose; superior layer of ventral rim deeply U-shaped medially with a median process. Segment X with spatulate process, narrow basally, U-shaped medio-apically, surpassing the posterior margin of pygophore. Head of parameres quadrate, covering segment X basally.</p><p>Female genitalia (Figs 14–15). Genital plates setose (Fig. 14). Gonocoxites VIII flat, wider than longer, posterior margins straight, lateral margins rounded, sutural margins juxtaposed. Gonocoxites IX rectangular, swollen. Laterotergites VIII triangular, posterolateral angles rounded, posterior margins with minute projection closer to laterotergites IX, anterior margins slightly overlapping gonocoxites VIII, bearing spiracle. Laterotergites IX spatulate. Segment X rectangular. Distal ductus receptaculi almost twice as long as proximal ductus receptaculi, both shorter than the vesicular area; pars intermedialis elongate, as long as capsula seminalis. Annular flanges divergent. Capsula seminalis ovate with small lateral process.</p><p>The area surrounding gonapophyses IX was damaged, not allowing the study of chitinellipsen nor the thickening of vaginal intima.</p><p>Measurements. Total length, 7.00 ± 0.45 (6.62–7.50); length of head, 1.15 ± 0.09 (1.07–1.25); head length ahead of eyes, 0.89 ± 0.02 (0.87–0.92); interocular distance, 1.00; length of antennal segments: I, 0.32; II, 1.00 ± 0.06 (0.95–1.00); III, 0.79 ± 0.07 (0.75–0.87); IV, 1.55 ± 0.10 (1.50–1.67); V, 1.70 ± 0.14 (1.62–1.87); width of head, 1.91 ± 0.07 (1.87–2.00); width of pronotum, 4.11 ± 0.32 (3.75–4.35); length of pronotum, 1.50 ± 0.15 (1.35–1.65); width of scutellum, 2.38 ± 0.09 (2.28–2.47); length of scutellum, 2.49 ± 0.07 (2.43–2.58); width of abdomen at third segment, 4.20 ± 0.14 (4.12–4.37).</p><p>Distribution. Ecuador (Fig. 16).</p><p>Comments. Elanela ecuatoriana sp. nov. and E. nigrofemorata are similar, but the legs of E. ecuatoriana are black-spotted whereas in E. nigrofemorata only the distal-half of each femur is spotted in black. Moreover, the identification of each species is unambiguous by the male genitalia.</p><p>The female genitalia of E. ecuatoriana is similar to the female genitalia of E. scutomaculata, but in the former, the gonocoxites VIII are wider than long and not juxtaposed basally, the gonocoxites IX are swollen, and a spiracle is present on each laterotergite VIII.</p></div>	https://treatment.plazi.org/id/03B84F220808FFF460B5FA52FDC36C6F	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
