087487942A7E070D69E47ADBD477FC28.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The cladistic analysis of the species of the genus Pionosyllis (San Martín et al. 2009) has elucidated that P. dionisi is related to Paraehlersia, which currently has eight valid species (Prado & San Martín 2024), two of them inhabiting the waters of the Canary Islands, P. dionisi and P. ferrugina (Langerhans, 1881). Habitat. The type locality of P. dionisi is the east coast of Tenerife, collected in coralligenous circalittoral substrates of Dendrophyllia ramea, coarse sand, silt with stones, of 40 – 466 m depth.	en	Núñez, Jorge, Martín, Guillermo San (2024): Syllidae Grube, 1850 (Annelida) from Conception, Amanay and Banquete Banks off Canary Islands, with the description of two new species. 087487942A7D070E69E47A4BD5EAFC04.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The first record of this species in the Canary Islands was included in the genus Opisthodonta (Palmero et al. 2005). The distribution of the aciculae with progressive development in the anterior region of the body is typical of S. pterochaeta, aciculae arranged in pairs from chaetigers 1 – 13, with a single needle from chaetiger 14; there is a progressive decrease in the size of the aciculae from chaetigers 14 to 18, remaining reduced until the end of the body. Habitat. Subtidal sandy substrates, of various granulometries, from coarse to muddy sands (Parapar et al. 1993), amphioxus sands (Campoy 1982), and in Cymodocea nodosa meadows from shallow bottoms to about 30 m depth. Body long, slender, filiform; Holotype incomplete, 3.7 mm long, 0.1 mm wide, 38 chaetigers; longest Paratype complete, 6 mm long, 55 chaetigers. Prostomium ovate to subrectangular, wider than long; apparently without eyes (probably lost after fixation). Antennae apparently lost; holotype with a short, ovate median antenna and one paratype with a similar lateral antenna, all similar in length. Palps broad, longer than prostomium, fused along their length, with a distinct dorsal notch. Peristomium shorter than subsequent segments; tentacular cirri ovoid, small. Dorsal cirri similar to tentacular cirri but longer, shorter than parapodial lobes, absent on chaetiger 2 (Fig. 2 A). Anterior three parapodia each with about 6 – 7 compound falcigers, with spinose shafts and somewhat elongated, bidentate blades, subdistal tooth long and minute, indistinct distal tooth, with fine, moderately long marginal spines, 10 μm long, without compound spiniger-like chaetae (Fig. 2 B). From about chaetiger four, parapodia each with solitary spiniger-like chaeta, shaft enlarged, distally expanded, with numerous spines, and proportionally short, thin, unidentate, filiform, triangular on bases blade, appearing like a long spine under low magnifications, apparently smooth, 35 – 40 μm long (Fig. 2 C, E); in addition, 5 – 6 (4 - 3 in midbody) falcigers, similar to those of anteriormost parapodia but slightly shorter (Fig. 2 D, F); posterior parapodia each with solitary compound spiniger-like chaetae similar to those of midbody segments (Fig. 2 G); in addition, three falcigers with short blades, 7 – 8 μm long (Fig. 2 H). Dorsal simple chaetae from chaetiger 1, with rounded tips and finely spinulose subterminally, thicker posteriorly (Fig. 2 I – L). Ventral simple chaetae on most posterior parapodia, thick, sigmoid, smooth, bidentate, with small distal tooth and large subdistal tooth (Fig. 2 M). A single aciculae per parapodium along the body, slender, distally rounded, apparently hollow in tip (Fig. 2 N). Pharynx long, everted in all specimens, through about five segments; pharyngeal tooth long, on anterior rim (Fig. 2 A). Proventricle similar in length to pharynx, through four segments, with 15 very thick muscle cell rows (Fig. 2 A). 087487942A7C070169E478C7D6D1FCC6.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Exogone martinsosai n. sp. belongs to a group of this genus sharing some characters, having shafts of spiniger-like compound chaetae distally enlarged, spinose and blades relatively short, triangular, which are absent on most anterior segments, and absence of dorsal cirri on the second chaetiger. The related species are Exogone heterosetosa McIntosh, 1885, from sub-Antarctic seas, Philippines and Australia (San Martín 2005; San Martín et al. 2021), E. heterosetoides Hartmann-Schröder, 1979 from Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, and southern areas of Chile (San Martín 2005; San Martín et al. 2021), and E. mompasensis Martínez, Adarraga & San Martín, 2002, which is known only from the type locality Mompás (Guipúzcoa, Spain) (Martínez et al. 2002; San Martín 2003). The new species, Exogone martinsosai n. sp., has an appreciable smaller thickening of the distal end of the shaft of the spiniger-like chaetae, similar to E. heterosetosa, but in the new species the blades are appreciably longer and unidentated. Also it is remarkable the wide muscle cell rows of the proventricle, being much slender in the other species. None of the examined specimens have all the antennae; the holotype has only the median one and one of the paratypes has only a lateral one, being similar to the median antenna of the holotype in size; so, we assume that the species has three antennae, short, but longer than the dorsal cirri.	en	Núñez, Jorge, Martín, Guillermo San (2024): Syllidae Grube, 1850 (Annelida) from Conception, Amanay and Banquete Banks off Canary Islands, with the description of two new species. Prostomium wider than long, with two pairs of eyes in trapezoidal arrangement. Median antenna arising from middle of prostomium (Fig. 4 B), broken in all specimens, with 11 articles in holotype; lateral antennae inserted at anterior margin, also broken, except in holotype, with 28 articles. Palps broad, slightly shorter than prostomium, fused at base, with distinct median groove. Peristomium shorter than subsequent segments, with two pairs of tentacular cirri (Fig. 3 B). Antennae, tentacular and dorsal cirri long, thin, filiform, whip-shapped, with numerous rectangular articles (Figs. 3 A, B, 4 A, B). Dorsal tentacular cirri with 20 articles each, ventral ones shorter, with 15 articles each. Dorsal cirri long, with small, rounded inclusions within all articles. 087487942A76070669E47817D318FAF7.taxon	discussion	Remarks. Syllis guillei n. sp. is characterized by having very long, filiform dorsal cirri, compound chaetae with short bidentate blades, provided with long, thin spines on margin, very long pharynx and short proventricle, and aciculae distally oblique. This species is very similar to Syllis villenai Aguado, San Martín & Ten Hove, 2008, from Indonesia (Aguado et al. 2008), in the overall aspect of the body and compound chaetae. However, S. guillei n. sp. differs from S. villenai in several characters. Both species have a long pharynx, but differ in the size of the proventricle, which is long, through 15 segments in S. villenai, and only five in S. guillei, n. sp. The aciculae in S. villenai are distally pointed, three per parapodium, and aciculae are distally oblique, with only one per parapodium, in S. guillei n. sp. Furthermore, S. guillei n. sp. lacks the conspicuous glands in parapodia described for S. villenai. Finally, Syllis villenai was collected in a dredge between 0 and 36 m depth, while S. guillei, n. sp. lives in deeper bottoms.	en	Núñez, Jorge, Martín, Guillermo San (2024): Syllidae Grube, 1850 (Annelida) from Conception, Amanay and Banquete Banks off Canary Islands, with the description of two new species. 087487942A6A071969E47E1AD216F84C.taxon	discussion	Remarks. The genus Palposyllis was described by Hartmann-Schröder (1977) and was considered to belong to the subfamily Eusyllinae (San Martín & Aguirrezabalaga 1988; San Martín 2003). However, phylogenetic studies of the Syllidae based on morphological data could not assign the genus to any known subfamily, thus so far considered as incertae sedis (Aguado & San Martín 2009). The species is common, but with low population densities in subtidal sand Banks of the Canary Islands. Habitat. From subtidal sandbanks to 856 m depth, from coarse to muddy sand.	en	Núñez, Jorge, Martín, Guillermo San (2024): Syllidae Grube, 1850 (Annelida) from Conception, Amanay and Banquete Banks off Canary Islands, with the description of two new species.
