Cranium anteroposteriorly short and dorsoventrally high. Isthmus frontalis narrow, external nares relatively small, pneumatization of the braincase limited, orbits strongly projecting laterally. Upper tusk sockets distally diverging, separated by shallow premaxillary fossa. Functional lower tusks present in some individuals, mandibular symphysis downturned.
