These specimens are very similar to the type, but have no median cephalic spine (the habitus drawn by Péricart (1990) from specimens from Sri-Lanka also have no median cephalic spine). They do have the same paranota, and the same hemelytral structure, however. The bucculae is broad as in other Abdastratus species. The specimens are similar to A. smetanai Péricart, but there are four areolae across the discoidal area (and not only three as in A. smetanai), and the frontal spines are shorter. The specimens also differ from A. atrus Motschulsky in having wider paranota not reduced to a ridge. They are also similar to A. sacchari Drake in the size of the paranota. However all of the spines are longer. The genus Abdastartus Distant differs from Aphelotingis Drake by the much shorter bucculae and fourth antennal joint. However, in A. muiri, the bucculae and fourth antennal joint are not much shorter. In addition, the head and pronotum of Aphelotingis smetanai are not elevated anteriorly as in Abdastartus, as indicated by Drake (1948). Also, the habitus of the two Aphelotingis species differ notably from the one Abdastartus species. Further, Aphelotingis is from the African region and Abdastartus is from the Oriental region. Aphelotingis muiri is herein transferred back to Abdastartus .

Distribution. Abdastartus muiri previously was known from Sri Lanka (Péricart 1990), Java (Indonesia) and Singapore (Drake 1927a).

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/191287AE891BFFF9FF41FE981BD700E9	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. Belenus angulatus and Belenus bengalensis, described by Distant (1909). were separated by the size of the costal area and colour. The two types, deposited at the Natural History Museum, London, exhibit these slight differences. The type of B. bengalensis is distinctly darker and the costal and subcostal areas are slightly wider. However, long series of collected specimens of both species show variation in the size of the costal area and apical angles of the paranota, without variation in colour, and conversely, variation of colour with the same size of costal area and paranotal angles, indicating that these characters are not suitable for separating species. In addition, the two species share almost the same distribution: B. angulatus is known from Burma and New Guinea, whereas B. bengalensis is known from India, Thailand, and New Guinea (Drake & Ruhoff 1965a). Therefore, B. bengalensis is here synonymized under the name of B. angulatus .

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/191287AE891DFFFFFF41FDA6191B0001	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply. The new species A. bishopae differs from all other species of Agramma from the Oriental Region by the complete biseriate costal area. Agramma biseriata differs from this new species by the more setose and stouter antennae, the darker, longer and less swollen pronotum, and the head more elongate. This new species is also similar to A. sedale, but differs by the darker pronotum and the form of hemelytra. The hind tarsi are short, enlarged, and hairy. The species superficially resembles the genus Litadea China by the form of the hemelytra with indistinct areas (not delimited by boundary veins), and possessing large hind tarsi. However, the hind tarsi are less enlarged than Litadea, the hemelytra much narrower, and the antennae more slender and not pilose.

https://treatment.plazi.org/id/191287AE8910FFF0FF41FEB61E9E06B9	Public Domain	No known copyright restrictions apply.
