Type locality: “Transkaspien” [= Kyrgyz Republic] &amp; “Alai-Gebirge” [= Russia (WS)].</p><p>Anastoechus villosus Paramonov, 1930: 475 (125). Type locality: Russia (Far East). Anastoechus asiaticus var. albulus Paramonov, 1940: 264, 401. Type locality: Mongolia &amp; Russia (Eastern Siberia) &amp; “Tjanschanj” [= China (Xinjiang) or Kyrgyz Republic].</p><p>Diagnosis. Frons subtriangular; occiput with long sparse black and white erect hairs. Hairs on thorax mostly yellowish. Abdomen black with white dust. Epandrium curved at mid-posterior portion or margin in dorsal view; gonocoxite distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; epiphallus turriform, with an acute tip in dorsal view.</p><p>Redescription. Male. Body length 9 mm, wing length 8 mm.</p><p>Head (Fig. 1) black with pale dust. Hairs on head black and white; frons subtriangular, with long dense black and white erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs; occiput with long sparse black and white erect hairs. Antenna black except first flagellomere brown; scape elongate with long dense white hairs; first flagellomere elongate, bare, with a stylus at tip. Proboscis black, bare, nearly three times longer than head.</p><p>Thorax black with brown dust. Hairs on thorax mostly yellowish; postpronotal lobe with long dense yellowish hairs, mesonotum with long sparse yellowish hairs; thorax almost bare on back, anepisternum and katepisternum with long dense white hairs. Scutellum black with brown dust anteriorly, with long sparse white hairs. Legs yellow except femora black. Hairs on legs mostly yellow, bristles yellow. Femora with dense white scales, fore femur with white hairs basely; tibiae and tarsi with short yellow hairs and sparse yellowish scales. Hind femur with four av. Fore tibia with seven ad, eight pd, five pv; mid tibia with eight ad, eight pd, five av, five pv; hind tibia with seven ad, eight pd, six av, six pv. Wing (Fig. 11) uniformly pale brown except base brown. Vein r-m close to tip of cell dm, cell r5 closed. Base of vein C with brush-like long black bristles and white hairs. Halteres dark brown.</p><p>Abdomen black with white dust. Hairs on abdomen mostly white; dorsum with long dense white erect hairs and brown bristle laterally, dorsum with long sparse white hairs on back, tergites 5–7 with dense brown bristles. Sternites with long dense white erect and recumbent hairs.</p><p>Male genitalia (Figs. 21–26). Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly higher than long; cercus well exposed in lateral view; epandrium nearly as wide as long, curves mid-posteriorly in dorsal view; gonocoxite distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; gonostylus oval, its tip acute in lateral view; epiphallus turriform, acute at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with a rather long and narrow slightly curved tip in lateral view.</p><p>Female. Body length 9 mm, wing length 8 mm. Similar to male, but frons parallel-sided; abdomen tergites 1–4 with a row of brown bristles posteriorly, sternite 4 with brown hairs.</p><p>Specimens examined. Epandrium slightly wider than long, slightly swollen at middle in dorsal view, and epiphallus subtriangular and acute at tip in dorsal view.</p><p>Redescription. Male. Body length 8–9 mm, wing length 8–9 mm.</p><p>Head (Fig. 2) black with pale dust. Hairs on head black and white; frons parallel two sides, with long sparse black erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs; occiput with long sparse black erect hairs. Antenna black except yellow at joints; scape elongate with long dense white and black hairs; first flagellomere elongate, bare, with a stylus at tip. Body length 9–10 mm, wing length 8–9 mm. Similar to male, but wing mostly hyaline; tergites on abdomen with yellowish bristles posteriorly except tergites 5–7 with brown bristles posteriorly.</p><p>Type material. China (Qinghai).</p><p>Etymology. The species epithet derives from the Latin “ candidus ” [= white]; referring to the white color on the posterior part of the abdominal sternites.</p><p>Remarks. The new species is similar to A. asiaticus Becker, but it can be separated from the latter by the occiput covered with the long dense white and long sparse black erect hairs, the thorax mostly with white hairs, and the tip of the epiphallus obtuse in dorsal view. Abdominal dorsum with long dense yellowish hairs laterally and dorsally, long dense yellowish erect hairs and with a row of yellowish bristles with dark brown tip posteriorly, tergites 7–8 with long white hairs. Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly higher than long; epiphallus subtriangular, acute at tip in dorsal view. Redescription. Male. Body length 10–14 mm, wing length 9–13 mm.</p><p>Head (Fig. 5) black with pale dust. Hairs on head mostly white; frons narrowing directed distally, with long sparse black erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs; occiput with long dense white hairs and long sparse black erect hairs. Hairs on thorax mostly yellow; postpronotal lobe with long dense yellow hairs, mesonotum with long dense yellow hairs; thorax almost bare on back, anepisternum and katepisternum with long dense white hairs. Scutellum black, with six yellow bristles each side. Leg [mid and hind legs broken] brown except femur black. Hairs on legs mostly white, bristles yellow. Femur with dense white hairs and scales; tibia and tarsus with short yellow hairs and brown scales. Fore tibia with seven ad, eight pd, eight av, nine pv. Wing (Fig. 19) uniformly pale brown except base dark brown. Vein r-m close to tip of cell dm, cell r5 closed. Base of vein C with brush-like long black bristles and white scales and hairs. Halteres black.</p><p>Abdomen black. Hairs on abdomen mostly yellow; dorsum with long dense yellow hairs and posterior of tergites 3–7 with dark brown tip yellow bristles. Sternites black with white dust and long dense white hairs.</p><p>Male genitalia (Figs. 67–72). Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly longer than high; cercus well exposed in lateral view; epandrium a little longer than wide, almost parallel two sides in dorsal view; gonocoxite with black bristle-like hairs apically, tumid near base and parallel two sides from middle to tip in ventral view; gonostylus elongate, its tip acute in lateral view; epiphallus subtriangular, obtuse at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with a long and curved tip in lateral view.</p><p>Female. Unknown.</p><p>Type material. Holotype male, CHINA: Shaanxi, Ganquan, Qingquan Town (N 36° 16’ 12’’ E 109° 30’ 28’’), 22. IX. 1970 (CAU).</p><p>Distribution. China (Shaanxi).</p><p>Etymology. The species epithet derives from the Latin “ xuthus ” [=yellow]; referring to the yellow color of the bristles on the scutellum and the yellow hairs on the abdomen.</p><p>Remarks. The new species is similar to A. aurecrinitus Yang et Du, but it can be separated from the latter by the frons narrowing directed distally, halteres black, hairs on the abdomen mostly yellow, sternites black with the white dust and long dense white hairs, epiphallus subtriangular and obtuse at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with a long and curved tip in lateral view. Type locality: China (Nei Monggol).</p><p>Diagnosis. Mesonotum with long sparse white hairs; thorax almost bare on back. Hairs on abdomen mostly white, tergites 3–7 with a row of brown bristles posteriorly. Epandrium curved mid-posteriorly in dorsal view; epiphallus subtriangular, acute at tip in dorsal view.</p><p>Redescription. Male. Body length 7 mm, wing length 8 mm.</p><p>Head (Fig. 10) black with pale dust. Hairs on head black and white; frons narrowing directed distally, with long dense black erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs; occiput with long sparse black and white erect hairs. Antenna black except first flagellomere brown; scape elongate with long dense white and black hairs; first flagellomere elongate, bare, with a stylus at tip. Proboscis black, bare, nearly four times longer than head.</p><p>Thorax black. Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly higher than long; cercus well exposed in lateral view; epandrium nearly as wide as long, curved mid-posteriorly in dorsal view; gonocoxite distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; gonostylus oval, its tip acute in lateral view; epiphallus subtriangular, acute at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with narrow and rather short tip in lateral view.</p><p>Female. Body length 6 mm, wing length 6 mm. Similar to male, but halteres brown; abdomen tergites with long dense white hairs laterally, and long sparse white hairs on back.</p><p>Specimens examined.
